I splurged on this 6-effect download when it was discounted by a third on the flightless bird site. It is back up to the regular US$30, and, after some reflection, I really think it is a worthwhile acquisition--and would be even at full price.
At first I was a tad disappointed as there was really nothing here groundbreaking from a technical perspective. The effects are all classics and all rely on time-tested (time-weary to some) principles that even the novices among us know. However, the fact that we get over 2.5 hours of Giobbi performing, explaining, and generally educating us about subtleties of presentation and showmanship more than makes up for the simplicity of the tricks. Giobbi brings a gravitas and respectability to well-known effects and techniques that I was personally at risk of dismissing as passé and not able to fool a sophisticated lay audience. Nonetheless, Giobbi has convinced me that there is still a place for tetradistic stacks and the cross-cut, Balducci, and 10-20 forces in serious card magic--provided one attends to misdirection and polished presentation. Giobbi even offers some tips about glimpsing false shuffling that are so simple but frankly I needed to have them pointed out to me. Of course, it should be pointed out that Giobbi strove to keep the tricks as sleight-free as possible. This means with just a little bit of finger flinging (more advanced false shuffling or forces, for example), one can make some of these bafflers and maybe complete magician foolers. Overall, I really enjoyed this download and certain feel I got my money's worth. Anyone else have feedback on this? Les |

As far as I can tell from the contents on the Penguin website, Follow the Leader, Gemini Calling, Cheers! Mr. Galasso and Further Than Ever have been published in the Giobbi Light book series. I'm not so shure about Seven and Open Prediction. There's also a marketed version of the Open Prediction by Giobbi, which uses a gaff.

Not 100% sure, but I am quite confident you could find them all in his Card College Light series + his marvellous Introduction to Card Magic.

Ops! Uli posted as I was typing. He's right. Also about the Open Prediction by Giobbi using a gaff, but there is also a version in Introduction To Card Magic: not a gaff, but the Balducci force does the job there ... I believe that's the one you find in the work just published by Penguin.

So these effectes and methods are not new to me and, what's more, I ve been using a few of 'em in my performances... As a teacher you cannot go wrong with Roberto Giobbi. You may like or not like his style of presenting magic (but there is where your persona has to come in!), but the choice of material and the details he usually gives you, are priceless. So I am quite sure you made a good purchase, especially if during a sale! I am not going to buy it because I have them already. That's the only reason. Mark |

Giobbi offers subtleties and performance tips that make me consider it more--usually I avoid the Balducci force like the plague. Still, my favourite approach to the OP plot has to be Aronson's Two Possibilities which cleverly uses a DF card and the Close Spread DL. Les |

The Balducci force is an extremely powerful weapon. I saw Alain Nu fry an entire theatre with it.

I agree with the OP, just getting to listen to Robert Giobbi talk about nuances and details is worth the price...
and the effects as simple as they are, can be really powerful! Like Gemini Calling, so simple that the first time you perform it you will be paranoid about the spectators figuring it out, and all of the sudden you have a standing applause! its amazing! One of the best selfworkers around imo, and of course requires no stack That was just my opinion on one of the effects, but the whole DVD is really awesome His Flightless-Bird Live lecture is awesome too, its like 7 hours for $30 Thanks, Ryan Lockwood.

Try Penguin or Vanishing Inc, I think it's pretty well distributed.

Yeah, sorry! Flightless bird is Penguin Magic... That's just a bad nickname.
There is the link for you, I know you will enjoy it! http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/3961 Thanks, Ryan Lockwood.
