Hi John
I am a little new to your material. Would love to learn more. What are your favorite 3 or 4 card plots that work really well among spectators? Thanks! Tom |

Hi Tom
Nice to hear from you. Plots wise, I am obsessed with the mystery card plot and have quite a few approaches in crafted with Carey and Minimalistica. Triumph, card at a number and the ambitious card are fascinations too. There's so much scope in the above plots to be creative and explore the possibilities. One thing I advise my students is to spend a week at a time on just one plot. Work through versions, try out ideas and keep notes. It can be very productive and stimulating. John |

Thank you John. That is great advice... especially the idea of taking one plot per week and study and learn it from all angles.
One follow up question? What is the most important thing do you recommend to keep in mind when doing card magic for others? Tom |

Whilst your here John I'd like to congratulate you on your new book Minimalistica, this is the first magic book I've purchased in a long time as I tend to purchase dvd's these days but I must say that I'm really pleased with the book so far and happy that I took the plunge to get a magic book for a change.
With that in mind do you have a favourite item in the book ? |

Such a wonderful book, Warren. Great decision you made to pick up this book. I have to say that "Crafted With Carey" is also a great study as well. These are by far two of my favorite book of the last five years. And while no one asked me 😉 I'm going to list a couple of favs. These types of things are quite subjective, but having the privilege of phone Sessions with JC each week, I think I have a pretty good grasp on his material and thinking.
C.W.C: this contains what I consider one of the most direct, no nonsense, POWERFUL solutions to the Mystery Card plot imaginable. John has a gift for boiling a plot down to what's truly essential to communicate the impossibility of the given effect and doing away with anything superfluous. I use this trick all the time and it NEVER fails to draw a gasp. I can't speak highly enough of it. Minimalistica: and while I could list a dozen "favorites" from the new book, I want to bring your attention to "Hoff Stabber." This trick is unfortunately the kind of thing that gets overlooked and lost in the shuffle (forgive the pun), but it is THE BEST solution for the classic 'card stab' while he deck is wrapped in a napkin in print IMHO. Over the years in the bars the plot served as one of the most requested care tricks from repeat friends. John's solution is quick, almost entirely hands off, and is a fooler. I really hope this one doesn't get passed by, it'd be a real shame. Take care, Shannon Clark

Folks,
If you don't know about Shannon Clark, that's understandable. I've told him he's so underground that *he* doesn't know he exists. Nevertheless, his card work is incredible. And if you pick up a copy of "Minimalistica," you'll find several of Shannon's effects in the book. THAT'S how good he is. So, when he recommends some of John's stuff as being great.....listen. The man knows of what he speaks.

I love all of john's work! I would say at least 70 percent of the card magic I perform for the paying public is John's!
no nonsense powerful direct card magic at its best. whispering ambitions is one of my favourite effects at this point in time and I have had wonderful reactions from it. Here is a video of myself performing it. https://youtu.be/w-jx9KywoKM

Yes Helder. I must revisit that approach. The do as I do is another obsession plot wise. I will post one of my approaches this week.
