I just received Death Toll and I am sure that is one of the best purchases that I will do in 2016!

VRS wins hands down for me. As far as spooky or "bizarre" it will be hard to top.

VRS really creeped me out when I read the backstory...of which I was ashamedly unaware of. And I mean "creeped me out" to the point that I second-guessed the purchase. Not due to the prop...actually quite the contrary. I think Vic did his homework so well, that presenting the routine as described should be seriously considered regarding the subject matter and the audience at hand. This is hard core magic folks. In this day and age in the USA, with so many concerns being tested, one needs to be aware that religion is one of those hot topics. And presented as described could lead to some energized responses to put it mildly.

What I am saying is, I love VRS. I think it may be one of my favorite effects in awhile because it really got to me...as a potential performer just researching the backstory, I was freaked out. And the props and workings are close to perfect (the letter is meant to be typewritten, but those familiar would know that typewriters made a tactile impression...but a good presentation will avoid such scrutiny). So if I, as the performer was creeped out with the story, imagine my same concern being conveyed in an actual performance (demonstration...experiment...etc.). Maybe I don't even need to practice the script, I just need to give a history lesson? That may be creepy enough?

I'm jesting because of course one needs to rehearse, but this is a really, really disturbing story...true or not. And I have given up my Catholic upbringing, but I am still attached enough to be affected by exorcism on any level.

Vic...kudos. This one is a 5 star on the alternative magic scale. I'm still not sure if I can present it as suggested. It may be just too real.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Oh, and if you have this, you'll find that there is an option for a s***ch of a certain something at the end of the routine. I don't know if this has been discussed yet, or if Vic considered this, but I didn't find it in the instructions. One could put the certain something extra in the letter and have it be revealed in the unfolding...this supplying ample time and misdirection to s***ch said object.

Whew. Hopefully my code-speak was sufficient in communicating without over-communicating.

Magic is hard.

I am in complete agreement with Wizard of Oz. How do you present VRS as written in the instructions? If you read the book that this effect is about you'll understand Wizard of Oz' comments.
Can this even be presented as a magical piece? Maybe presenting it in a situation where no one is expecting magic like a seance situation. If I use this as an opening to a. Seance there are several spirits here to make contact with but how many audience members will demand their ticket price back and run away? That's a joke sort of.

This is one very dark and serious piece of theatre.

The backstory got to me too. There is a very simple prop supplied by Vic but in trying to think about someone's reaction and realization that they are holding something so freaking disturbing in its history, I hope they don't toss it. It's that disturbing.

VRS is so strong I may just get some folks together and show them without doing the routine to see what reactions this will get.
I've never even heard of an effect where you don't even have to DO the effect.

This is definitely on a different level.

Until now, my best purchase of 2016 is an original Harlequin-Cat mask by Amleto Sartori in 1958.

That's quite nice Curator. Is it part of a Hauntique?

Yes, it's a Hauntique and I wrote a story about it. In French here http://logs.surnateum.com/hellequin/

A photo of Marcello Moretti wearing one of the Harlequin-Cat mask made by Amleto Sartori.

I found another Amleto Sartori mask in Paris, 30 years ago. The Capitan Cocodrillo mask.

I've always dreamed to find the Harlequin-cat mask. Those mask were made only for theatre, never for tourists. A Sartori mask is the Holy Grail for mask collectors.

Majestic, enthralling and beautifully fascinating pieces Curator! Thanks for sharing the asthetics, information and rare beauty.
Why is it that on one side of the world a person looks at a picture of the Grand Canyon and says, "it looks so real." At the same time on the other side of the world a person looks at the Grand Canyon and says, "it looks like a picture."
