NOT RING FLIGHT!
I'm looking for the effect where you borrow a ring and it ends up on your shoe, or your keyrings (not your key purse) or similar places. Anyone help? I have iMAKulate ring flight, and I am NOT looking for the 'ring to wallet' type effet. |

I believe Stevens Magic sold this when it first came out. You may want to email them.
http://www.stevensmagic.com I don't think it is available any longer. It was sold after Copperfield did it on TV. But you can check as they my have one sitting around. They would not post on their site for only one item, so email them. |

On the foot isn't great IMHO. Its too easy for audiences to deconstruct later.
I've made a ring to shoelace using a ring flite down the pants. It vanished near my pocket and then I poke it down a few seconds later. |

On Foot is strong if you use the proper misdirection. I've posted on this before as well. Basically, the vanish that comes with the trick is horrible. Do a standard vanish, preferably one that lets the spectator believe the ring is still there even though it is long gone. A rattle box or something similar is probably best. As for the misdirection, the key is dropping something on the floor. If you are doing this at a table, that is great because the table itself also provides all the cover you could ask for. The key however is to delay the vanish as long as possible after the load.

I saw Richard's version life performed by himself. I didn't even realize what happened.
Remember that the audience doesn't know what is going to happen.

Hi all, Hocus-Pocus is selling an effect called 'Borrowed Ring On Shoelace' this looks and sounds like the same version that Copperfield performed on T.V using the baby shoe. Does anyone know it this is the same version? Cheers

The keyring effect could easily be a sleight-of-hand method instead of a ring flight.
If the ring should be in your hand, you will have plenty of misdirection to attach the finger ring to a clip on your ring of keys using one hand. Then enough time has passed to affect a good vanish. Try looking at Gregory wilson's ringleader video, at the part where he does a ring on string through the hand. That should give you some ideas. I have thought of this but haven't done it yet. PM me if you are specifically interested in the idea I came up with.
If you were a hotdog, and you were starving...would you eat yourself? I know I would!

To PRINCE > Yes Borrowed Ring on shoelace is the same as Copperfields ring to the miniature shoe. Hope this helps. Bye.

Out of interest Flec, how do your rate the Imakulate RF?
I got one and returned it as I found it noisy - a loud click when the lock was released and noticable noise when retracting. I also thought the clip looked odd and the way it didn't line up with the other clips was pretty shoddy, given the price. One effect I've seen which is interesting is Serendipity. It's a gimmicked zippo style lighter. You wrap the ring in flash paper prentending to clean it and offer to set it on fire for a really thorough/magical clean and pull out the lighter. A flash later and the ring has gone only to appear inside the fuel area of the lighter. Clearly the vanish could be varied. I've given up trying to find a reel RF now. None of them seem quiet enough. I've made my own one using a normal leaver keyfob and ring which I've gimmicked using solder and a hacksaw. The ring is vanished using the old method of gimmicked hanky - which is amusing since the method is in many kids magic books! |
