In (large?) part, because of freedom and the fact that not all locations are equally desirable. The median family home price in the USA is about $200K. If you have a house in Manhattan or San Franciso, do you want to sell it for that price? If you live in the hill country boonies of West Virginia, where you can get a house for less than a quarter of that, do you want to pay 4x more than you have to? Didn't think so.

Well I only the run card club, where the food and drinks are free. The bar on the other hand is merely an investment to me. I don't run it and I really have no idea how the prices compare to third world countries. I went to Turkey not long ago and stopped at the Hilton and that was about the same price as London. I am not saying the cost of living does not vary but wonder why. If ever you come to England do not visit Stafford unless you like being ripped off by the way.
I think most countries have poor and rich parts. I have never been to the USA but my wife has been a few times and I think it is much the same with ghettos and luxury parts. Where I live, one can walk from one world too another in a short time, sort of.

My wife went on a Disney Cruise a few years ago. One of the stops was Nassau in the Bahamas. She said she was stunned by the range from ultimate luxury in the hotels to the abject poverty where people actually lived. (They took a bus from the hotels to the aquarium.) We've heard that lately, there's been problems with people shooting at the busses.

I think Amazon is the new Wal*Mart. You don't even need to leave your house. Wal*Mart delivers too, but they have too many restrictions on items to mail over here.

I think Amazon is the new Wal*Mart. It's the new Wal*Mart and Google rolled into one. A friend of mine died last week. He had an unusual name--Dani. Emails were passed back and forth among friends. The next day I got an email recommendation from Amazon of books whose titles contained "Dani" in it.

Some say one need only speak today to get an add to match. Tomorrow they say a thought will do the trick.

You know, you may be onto something there Tommy. Imagine if that TV that listens to all of our conversations played customized commercials!
