BY FORCES UNSEEN, just so then maybe I'd have enough time to devote to mastering all the slights and then ESSENTIAL DAI VERNON.

Greater Magic & The Jinx (all 3 volumes)

A close third and fourth would be The Compleat Invocation Vols. 1 & 2 and Annemann: The Life and Times of a Legend

And, if money is no object (that is, of course, if you're paying), MAGICK by Bascom Jones (5 Vol. Set)
While the amount of water has remained static, the amount of Tequila and Triple Sec available for making Margaritas has expanded enormously. So you see, we have made progress after all. ~Anonymous

Since it hasn't been mentioned:

1. The Collected Almanac - Richard Kaufman

The second one is a harder choice...

I'll go with Dear Mr. Fantasy by Bannon like somebody else.

Frank Garcia's Super Subtle Card Miracles.

Or The Close Up Magic of Frank Garcia, Parts 1 and 2.

Or The Dai Vernon Book of Magic.

Or Stars of Magic and Bobo (as Joe Hohman mentioned)

And what about Slydini?

Slowdini: It just struck me that if you're stranded on a desert island and practicing all these tricks, who are you going to show them to?

Easy choices for me!

Greater Magic
Paul Curry's "World's Beyond"

If allowed a 3rd, it would be all 3 volumes of the Pallbearer's Review.

I never hear too much about the Curry book, which is sad because it really is a treasure trove of great material and thinking.
For those who haven't read it, you should try to track down a copy. "The Truth Telling Joker" effect in that book is very simple and greatly satisfying. Never fails to amaze. I admit, if I hadn't read the routine it would have fooled the pants off of me if someone else had shown it to me first.

I couldn't agree with you more about Worlds Beyond; it's a fantastic book with many overlooked treasures.

I'm glad Dear Mr. Fantasy was mentioned a few times. I finally got a copy off the Let's make a Deal section and it will be here next week. Looking forward to it. $30!

He said he had two copies, so one is still left at that price. It was the "Some Books" post.

I can't wait to read this!

I'd be inclined to make one of my two choices a classic by the master of packet tricks: The Card Magic of Nick Trost.

So! Much! Good! Content!
