My daughter lost her job at a restaurant in the area when they cut their staff by over 50%. She spent weeks looking for another job and finally was hired by Ted's Steakhouse (owed by Ted Turner) This was her day off. As we're sitting here watching the 11:00 news, a news story came up that a "local restaurant" was closing because of a lease problem with the building owner. Yep, she found out she will lose her job at the end of the month by watching the news!

Sorry to hear that Ed.
I own a bar restaurant and my opinion the waitresses there would be better off being their own boss and doing house and office cleaning.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Sorry to hear that this was handled so poorly.
It is never fun to lose a job but there are better ways to handle it. I hope it is a door to a better job where she gets more respect. -Mary Mowder |

I meant that her employer should have handled it better.

Yikes. Lousy story all around, Ed. Best wishes to your daughter.

Misfortune has something in common with jello, that there's always room for more.
I hope there's better news and opportunities on the way there.

As she'd worked six days that week already and as she didn't have another day off for another six days, she said no. Turns out he'd been told that morning and was trying to get everyone in to give them the bad news without saying it publicly before it was gong to be announced. She went in today. She has to get referrals from her manager.
