In line with that thought, does the "online" icon remain, if I forget to log off? It's impossible for me to check myself.
Let me know, I'm off now, or am I? |

Just put a video camera for a second in the fridge to answer the question.

I don't know. Once you put the camera in the fridge, you change the experiment. Kind of like opening the box in Schrodinger's cat experiment. Or putting a microphone in the woods to see if a falling tree makes a sound. It doesn't prove anything because the parameters of the experiment are changed by having artificial ears or eyes in place. Is the fact that we're looking for your icon going to change whether it's there or not? I'm so confused.

My refrigerator light doesn't go out. How do I know, you ask? Well the little man who lives in the fridge that turns the light out no longer lives in the fridge. He has decided to move to warmer climates and moved into the microwave. I have posted the job with the employment agencies in my area but everyone they have sent so far has been over qualified for the job.

Hey just on a side note, if you leave the refrigerator door open, then the room will get hotter not colder. Why did I just say that?

The online icon is controlled by server sessions. If you remain on the same page until the server session expires, the icon will magically disappear. Same goes if you leave the Café for another site, or close the browser. I don't remember exactly, but I think the session is set to ten or fifteen minutes.
So, just because you see the online icon on someone's post doesn't neccessarily mean they are still here. This is as good as it gets to track who is here and who is not. The function does have its limitations. |

If a man is alone in the woods and says something yet no woman is there to hear him, is he still wrong?

So, Mary, if I get you right:
Even if I see my icon, I may not really be here. Got it. |

And if a tree fell on a florist and no one was around did he make a sound?
Remember blindbo. None of you are really here anyway. You are all just an elaborate figment of my imagination and I am sitting in a little room with four well padded walls. Prove me wrong!! The little green men and frogs are here so I have to go potty now. Up, up, and awayyy we gooo!!! :jesterhat:

Back on the refrigerator light in a way.
Why do you put sour cream in the fridge if it's already sour? Just a question. |

Hmm, another silly question here.
For you guys living in the Northern Hemisphere, when it's winter the temperature is definitely lower than that in the fridge. So logically food in the fridge should go bad faster than if you put it out, unless you use a thermostat, that is. Anyone willing to turn off their thermostat and try this? If it gets too cold you could always clear out the fridge and stay warm inside it. |

Sorry, such might be true if it stayed cooler all day and night and had no exposure to direct sunlight which warms things. On the other hand, most of us live in heated homes which keep the temperature at or above 65F so this experiment might not work indoors
