I wonder if that would work as well with some of the higher security locks? The ones in the video were probably intentionally no-name brands. The "Master Lock" people must love this video.
At tonight's show I think I will shove a couple of wrenches down the back of my pants just in case I need them.

Bolt cutters would probably prove more reliable.

There have been a couple of times I've destroyed bolt cutters, and not been able to open a lock. Alternate solutions are always valuable.
The body of the pictured locks seems to be some kind of composite, which I guess would break a lot more easily than a Master.

This method is a modern spin on a method for which there was a purpose built tool for advertised in US locksmith mags in the 1970's. The padlocks shown are Chinese made cast iron warded padlocks. They(the chinese) also make an Abloy (TM) style mechanism in another brand which also has a similar weakness. As most people who purchase padlocks do know anything about locks, their construction, mechanism and design, this video would be amazing and revelation. Theor will be a lots of sore hands of people doing this on the wrong type of lock. Passé

As Ian said. It’s a super crap lock.
However. There are similar leverage method to open modern Swing-through cuffs, by going about it from a few different directions and different tools. On the other-other hand…. Why would you bother when you can use a key?
