Ya'just never know about some people…But sometimes there's some wonderful stuff being done right under your nose. I should've known better by his great and friendly posts here, and then by all the amazing real-time/pro magic he shares. Oh well, better late than never I suppose.
I recently got Sean Goodman's (a regular around here for a while now) Secret Servante (SS) and what a great package. This little "thing" (and I mean "thing" in a BIG way) is just slick, slick, slick! When you know that proven magical giants like Michael Vincent and Jon Allen were in the developmental mix and highly approve of this, then you know you got yourself something really good, like a good martini -- shaken, not stirred. Simply, SS works! It works just like its creator, our friend Sean says & shows that it works…I tried it, and it worked for me too. Now, I typically don't use anything but SOH when I do coin magic, but something like this gives you a sort of "third hand" which can be helpful and downright amazing. It's a great alternative to sl**ving and goes as much unnoticed within the flow of just about any routine. It's also pretty flexible and darn easy to use, and the whole process by the way you learn this directly from Sean is perfectly thought out and presented. Not only that, he teaches quite a few other things in getting you started with it, including moves, routines, etc. It seriously is a complete package, one of the better ones I've come across in stuff like this. I also like how he ties this to other effects and in doing so makes them shine even more. That "Nest of Wallets" usage is really kicked up a notch using the SS, and he's flown a bit higher with the classic 3 Fly with it. Smile And it can be used for many other things, including rings, folded cards, dancing girls (well, maybe not dancing girls) etc. Easy-as-pie to use and quite effective…Stuff just appears and disappears so cleanly! I'm very happy I got it, and you will be too when you get yours. As a coin guy, SOH or gaffs, this is one powerful addition…An absolute no-brainer…A real must have, IMHO. Just get one and you'll see why. Most Highly Recommended! -Mb

Thank you so much for your kind words. As a stand up performer, Secret Servante is really useful for me. For my coin work it allows me to produce and vanish multiple coins at any stage of my close up performance, and also acting as a great ditching device for gaffed coins and the like. I'm really humbled by the kind words it has received since it was released last year - thank you again Marion.

I am VERY interested One question....I use coins that are slightly bigger in diameter (1.75" - 45mm) than an American silver dollar. Will the SS hold this???

The standard SS won't but I also produce a jumbo version which is twice the width of the standard. Indeed, if required I can produce a custom sized one to meet your requirements if you tell me how many coins you need it to hold and the width required.

I've posted this before but it does show SS being used to produce, vanish and ditch coins in a full blown coin routine for the stand-up performer.

Thank you Tally_NSA for your kind words. I'm really proud of SS and I use it all the time. In the performance, I'm only using one SS unit which is on the right side of my jacket but usually I have one unit on each side of my jacket. Obviously for any coin worker (stand up) the uses for it are huge (productions/vanishes/switches/ditching etc) but I also use it particularly to ditch and reproduce rings (Nick Einhorns Nest of Wallets).
The coins across routine was built around the work of the legend that is David Roth. I'm glad you liked it - it's one of my favourite routines and it plays really well to lay audiences.

Hey Tally, welcome to the Café and you certainly have picked a winner with this little "secret something."
I was using this just the other day. I don't wear a jacket much anymore, but do where a loose, black pull-over sweater a great deal, and use it to secretly do a good bit of magic with. I used the SS with it and added "just one little thing" I came across, and it was as invisible as wearing a jacket, and just as efficient. Sean's wonderful coins across routine is such a nice way to showcase the effectiveness of the SS, and it really is just so helpful in so many ways when doing coin magic, and differing types of magic. Again, I typically use sl**v*ng when I want to appear clean, but the SS is actually quite a bit cleaner, and leaves you able to move your arms/hands about as you want. Slick little thing!

Sleeving is always a great option and can be used in conjunction with SS - sleeve the coin, and then ditch into SS at your leisure. I think one of the major benefits of SS however is that it will let you ditch and retrieve multiple coins which is cool. It's a dangerous little beastie!

Sean, I thought your performance was perfect -- I think you possess a KIT full of natural charm and charisma. (I was actually more impressed by that than by the SOH and the SS.) Well done!
(Editorial time: note how Sean doesn't in any way make this young woman feel like she is being made to look foolish, even though he is fooling the holy heck out of her. Instead, he draws her in, making her complicit in his little diversion. In my mind this is less of product plug and more of a demonstration of how to woo your spectators. Tremendous job, Sean!) |

Thank you JoeHohman. I'm a working pro, so am very aware of the "people-skills" part of magic and not just the technical sleights required to perform an effect. Hence the routine is not designed to fool magicians or indeed impress them with sleight of hand (it's not a difficult routine anyway!) but has been developed over some twenty years of performing at weddings, corporate events and private parties. Thanks again for your kind comments. Although the routine does use SS, it's simply showing how I use it

Hi Wes65. It could be used with an unbuttoned shirt but the method of attachment would need to be changed. I've sent you a PM
