Does anyone have instructions or a video link for "color changing streamer" by Gosh?
I followed the instructions that came with the silk, but I'm not having any luck. |

Flick it, like you are flicking a towel at someone in the locker room. Try to do some damage. This guy on the video doesn't follow my advice; he's too nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DrhPx1CT5E

Tried that technique. It worked once and now it doesn't. I don't know why?

Mine have always worked better one way than the other, i.e. color to black.
So, I reverse it off stage and only present it one way. It is very powerful when combined with a good story.

Funsway: I tired that. But no luck.
Maybe I'm holding it the wrong way or something? The instructions say to have the opening up, pinch the inside with thumb and index finger, than wave it in the air. |

Do you have a loop of thread across each end of the streamer?

There is no loop of thread at neither end.
One end is open, the other end is sewn closed. |

Examine your silk streamer closely. You may discover that you have torn loose the connection between the two silk parts (the black silk and the rainbow silk). I can't explain it better than that in an open forum, but if you buy my e-Book on "The Coloring Book Revisited" from the Kid Show Magic section at The Magic Nook, I describe how to make one of these from scratch (plus other similar props you can make and use like this) which may help, or at least make it possible for us to communicate and find a solution. As it is, I am just "guessing blindly" without knowing what you are looking at.

I bought a second colour changing streamer. No thread. Still can’t figure it out. Can someone tell/show me how to hold it? Perhaps send a video PM..

Hi abbeylane,
I have had a couple of these through the years that worked with no issues. It's a simple device. I too just bought the "by gosh" model and I have the exact same problem. The instruction card says "Laflin 2004" on it so it obviously came through there at some point and so that might be someone to contact for better instructions. I just suspect these were just improperly sewn and I have no skill or knowledge as to how to repair it, nor do I have the inclination to do so when it should work as purchased and described. I contacted the place I bought it (on sale / clearance of course) and they said they didn't have any more and no one there had any suggestions? really? I asked them for a refund but haven't heard back yet. My decision is to throw it into the cleaning closet and use it to dust furniture with. I am ordering another one (from a different dealer) with the provision that they take it out and ensure it functions properly before sending it to me. If you learn any great secret to resurrect these defective ones, I would be happy for a PM about it. |

David Ginn sells a "Shake Silk" and includes instructions both in writing and on video. Here is the video that just shows the silk without the instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=51&v=d7LlKxHtF0U

I know it’s a simple trick, but the written instructions aren’t that clear. Maybe they should have included pictures. LOL
mrpiper, I also thought mine was made incorrectly, so I bought a second one (same brand) but that did work either. jimgerrish, I guess I’ll buy one by Mr Ginn. |

I now have three streamers. There is no inside piece or thread to grab. So. I guess I am missing something here. Not one of the videos I have watched shows where you should be grabbing. They all show how easy it is to flick.
I have turned the streamer inside out several times and I have not found this extra piece to grab. Then, I thought maybe I should be holding the bottom of the streamer as I turned it inside out; maybe the holding piece everyone talks about is the bottom. But then the streamer is too short. I really don’t want to pay another $50 for another streamer just to get set of instructions of how to do the trick. I know how the trick is done; just a flick. I know how to grab the piece. I want to know where this grabbing piece is. I would appreciate if someone would tell me in their own words where this grabbing piece is or how it is created? |

Hi abbeylane. I have the streamer and mine does not come with a thread. I've send you a PM with an explanation of how I handle the streamer. Let me know if my instructions don't make any sense. John

I sent abbeylane a vid showing how my streamer works. I can’t renember where I purchased it. But I did also buy a steamer from Duane Laflin years ago that had numbers instead of colors and worked exactly the same way. A shake and the numbers appeared to change from being all jumbled to going into order. Anyway, I’m not familiar with whether there are color changing streamers that use a different method but the version I have does not appear to look like what abbeylane has. So still no solution.
