Hey everyone,
I'm working on a little routine which uses 10 cards. I'd like to see if I can add some other phases, or possibly just some other uses for the cards I'll be carrying. Can anyone suggest any tricks which use (or can be adapted to use) 10 cards or less? These probably shouldn't require specific cards. As the main routine will require a specific set of cards. There can not be any 4 of a kind (for example). There will be an even mix of colours, so I can perform a small OOTW or an oil and water. Any other suggestions for me? Thanks, Sam |

It would help to know what 10 card routine are you trying to add phases to? This might dictate what could be added. You may not need to add anything at all depending on what you already have.

Cards Across seems like an obvious one.

If not already doing one, a follow-the-leader routine in which the cards' colors (red and black) follow the leader cards back and forth from packet to packet. PM me if you aren't familiar.

There is a nice 10 card OOTW in the Card Magic of Nick Trost book.

Dr. Daley's version of Cards Up the Sleeve from Stars of Magic is worth a look.

There are at least 4 card effects requiring less than 10 cards in Earl Nelson's Variations Revisited.

Hey all,
Really sorry for the delay! Time got away with me in other areas of my life, so I haven't been able to work on this for a while. drmagico: to be clear I'm using a set of antique cards for a 10 card poker routine. I wanted to come up with some other pieces using the same set of cards so that I have 2 options using the same set of cards depending on whether or not they are interested in poker. ThomasJ: I'll look into a couple of cards across routines. Most I've read use 20 cards, but I bet I could adapt them to just using 10 cards. I'll also check out the Lance Pierce download - I was interested in those a while back but never picked them up. ejohn: Follow the Leader is a great suggestion. One I hadn't considered before. Thank you. Steven Keyl: I had a quick look through the Trost book and found an OOTW using 17 cards. Couldn't find the 10 card version, but I'll take a more thorough look later. Thank you. seraph127: I'll check this out as well, thank you. Do I remember correctly though that an important feature was that the cards run from A - 10 and travel in order? My set of cards couldn't have a run of 10 cards, but perhaps I could use the same routine and just make less of a feature about the order. todsky: I've always meant to check out the impuzzibilities series. Thanks for the excuse! John Locke: Thanks for the advice, I'll keep an eye open for the Nelson book. Dollarbill: I guess I could twist 4 unrelated cards. No reason why they have to be a 4 of a kind. federico luduena: I'll look that up too. Thank you. Recently I've been performing the following set with the cards: - a 6 card oil and water - a kind of packet ambitious card (2 kings on top of 2 fours. Put the kings on the bottom and they jump to the top a few times) - ending with Daley's last trick using the kings and fours from the previous. Thanks everyone! |

The Sting is an excellent 10 card oil and water with a poker kicker. Can't remember who originated it off hand, but it's on one of Harry Lorayne's tapes (Magical Classics). Lynn
