I'm looking for a quick (but stunning ?) thing to do with a borrowed note (bill) before I 'damage' it with my Perfect Pen.
Some impromptu T&R or other gag (clean please!) would be great. Any ideas or pointers would be very well received. ![]()
Warmest regards

A bill switch would be neat. Then do a a real penetration of the pen, actually putting a hole in the new bill. Then change it back into their bill which now has a hole in the same spot! This would be easy enough.
Also there is a bit where you pretend to rip off half the bill and put it back together. It is on Gregory Wilson's On the Spot tapes, as well as other places, I'm sure. Blurr

Please note that Gregory Wilson does not teach this effect, he merely performs it whilst doing his main effects. I learnt the handling for this impromptu T&R trick from Jean Hugard's Money Magic booklet.
What you could do is do a pen-thru-bill effect which requires an 'alteration' to a bill. If you did this effect, proceeding to push it up and down the bill, and then fitted the other phase (which is the perfect pen effect), this could be very strong. It reminds me a lot of MumblePea's routine of the cigarette thru coin - absolutely fantastic! |

Year's ago, I saw a mediocre performance of a 'Dining On Dollars' routine. Because of my own ignorance, and dis-liking of the actual routine that was shown to me, I quickly gave up on this effect.
After seeing Michael Ammar perform the effect on his 'Money Miracles' videos, I eagerly added it to my set list. Then, I learned Jeff McBride's handling of this effect, which he credits to someone else (I can't think of who that is off hand.) Jeff's version is now the one I perform. If you perform a 'Dining On Dollars' effect, you probably won't be able to use that same dollar for your 'Perfect Pen' routine. But, none the less, the instant restoration of a torn bill is quite effective, and always gets a great audience reation. Happy Hunting, - - Troy

"Mismade Bill" is great! Another that is great is "Transmutation" from the first issue of "The Magic Menu". It's a bill transposition that requires the use of a tip.

I have recently been following the "Mismade Bill" with the Edwards pen-a-tration, and it works well. although i have played with the idea of using the same bill (in its mismade state) for the follow-up effect, so far I have used an American bill for the first and a Chinese bill for the pen-thru-bill effect--still doing them as a set.
For some reason I want to say the Pen effect is the stronger of the two. that's why I use it as the second in the set. alan

Harry Lorayne's "Ripstoration" from his Stars of Magic video tape (now reissued by L&L) is a fabulous impromptu torn and restored bill effect that happens in just a couple seconds. It makes a great opener and could be followed by the "Perfect Pen" as the bill is left completely (well, 99%) intact.
I have used this effect for years. Joe Z.
