I'm sure this is starting to be noticed by other folks by now, I got the first one in November. All of the new cuffs and leg irons I have bought have the spun rivets on the outside. These don't match the smooth or recessed and welded rivets on any of the older ones I have or the ones I was trying to match the new ones to. (even the cheap Chicagos have them now)Now it looks like I have two different sets when they are the same model.
Is this some new law or something? Are all the smooth cuffs collectable now?

Hi, the reason for the raised rivet heads is to optimized the strength of the assembly method. Rivets machined and polished flush with the surface, lost about 2 thirds of the strength as the only section of the rivet head holding the cuff parts togther was that which was set below the materials surface in a shallow countersink.
Check out the NIJ standards for handcuffs at http://www.nlectc.org/testing/handcuffs.html regards Ian

Well you can refer to me as the guy who is stuck with half rivets and half smooth.
Some of my cuffs are the origional ones purchased by my father and myself when we were providing armed security years ago. This feels like one brown sock and one black.
