I'm not a fan of remakes.

Who's playing Geordi La Forge?
That's our departed buddy Burt, aka The Great Burtini, doing his famous Cups and Mice routine

The only thing better about remakes, generally speaking, is the SFX are much better!

I've been watching the remake episodes from Comcast "In Demand"; and I've enjoyed them very much. They're not exactly like the original series. There's more about African (Mandinga) roots, the 'institution' of slavery, etc that I didn't catch from the original. There's also a timeliness about the fact that many youth today weren't around for the original series.
By the way, I don't agree with Snoop at all. This is not a "success story' by any means, but it can be seen as an attempt to understand the 'roots' of the oppression of Black people TODAY. There have been several books recently published (eg "Empire of Cotton") which detail how capitalism itself developed in America on the backs of slaves, had effects on worldwide markets, led to wars (and not just the US civil war), etc. If you want to change the world TODAY, you must understand and confront the past.
