Mirage – JB Dumas and David Stone

Product description : Making a deck appear and vanish has been done hundreds of times ! But this « new » gimmick (read further to understand why I put « new ») allows you to do it in a very visual and clean way, with only 1 card in your hand at the beggining and at the end, which really has the thickness of only 1 card, no bulky gimmick. Let's go into the review to see if this is any good ! (even if something with David Stone on the front cover of the DVD MUST be good)

Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $34.95 and you can get from Ellusionnist for now.

What you get : You get a small cardboard DVD case with inside the DVD which is well shot and to the point. 7 routines are explained, they're quite good. You get 2 gimmicks, a red one and a blue one as well as a few extra things you can change on your gimmick if it wears out. Gimmicks are really well made, they're very thin and I can see them lasting a long time. Very happy with it, it's really good.

The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS :
- You have to consider some angles while you perform this trick. It's not angle proof but doable in most of the situations.
- It does need a little of practice, it's not of those gimmicks you can perform right after receiving it, you have to get the move down.

THE PROS :
- This trick is fooling, I couldn't track it down on the trailer and even live, I would have seen nothing ! It looks as good live as it does on video.
- The gimmick is really well made, the fact you get 2 allows you to keep one for performance and one to train with so it's perfect. The gimmick is very thin, it has the thickness of only 1 card.
- The reset is instant, once you've made the deck disappear, you can do it again if you want to ! (or be ready for your next table)
- I like the subtleties that have been added to the gimmick which is not quite new. You have here a mix of a few methods which makes the whole thing more belieable and visual.

Overall rating : I quite like this one, very visual and very practical, I may consider using it for a routine I have in mind. 4/4 hearts for me.

As for the difficulty level, nothing hard with it, well, you have to get the knack, it will take some time, 3/5 stars.

Similar products : The most known names are the vanishing deck by Paul Harris, the Travelling Deck by Takel, Panic by Aaron Fisher and Decoy by Eoin O'Hare.
