I love James and so it's very natural and easy book for me to work with. Such atmosphere ready-made. 'Spectre' is winging it's way to me from across the pond, but I don't think it counts as a 'dopps-proper' so to speak. Come to think of it, maybe even 'M*re Gh*st' isn't officially in the dopps canon as far as I understand. I would really love to find a Poe one one day...

Doyle, because it is the most 'collectable' of the collection in the real world--and I love the book itself. Poe, because it rounded out the original trilogy and because it is Poe. Shakespeare, because it is the longest, largest, leatheriest, and closest to my heart (and also came out in genuine celebration of the author in a significant year) Dickens, because it was the first to allow for colour illustrations and is perhaps the most famous ghost story of them all. Ph.o.t.O, because it has tipped-in illustrations, guaranteed threat finale, and best title acronym. MORE GH*ST and Spectre are not technically Dopps although they are each made to work in a Dopps routine, so they are special to me for other reasons. BC

The first 3 Dopps were sold mostly as a set, and do not often come up for sale. For bizarrists and collectors, those are the 2 most desirable titles I think. I don't have either but am also looking for them. I really wish I could find either one.

I was in Afghanistan when the first three Dopps went up for sale. Alas, my return to civilization was a little too late and by the time I realized the books existed, they were all gone. I've purchased every volume since, however.

Sadly may need to part with mine. If anyone is interested check the sales section. I'd be happier knowing it went to someone who might put it to good use.

Sorry to hear that Joshua J, I'd be bereft without mine. I would snap it up but have promised myself that I will hold out for an elusive copy of Hound to accompany my M*re Gh*st and Alice. I am also starting to save the pennies for something rather Grimm that's in the pipeline.
My answer to the original question posted here is of course Alice, it's an absolutely beautifully crafted work of genius! |

A few in the US have asked if I'll post. I'm going to hang on for a UK buyer for a week. I've had a few bad experiences with postage abroad and puts me off I'm afraid. But I have got a US buyer with first offer if I can't get a UK buyer.

I still love every one of my complete Dopps collection, but...oh, my word..."Double-@lice,...to have versatile use for darker or " lighter"(or children's/special audiences) AND able to do a "remote viewing" experience with about 100 possible images! Fantasma glorification!!

I love it when I read a thread which I have NO clue what is being discussed.
It lets me know there is still some mystery in the world yet to discover!
