Hi looking for a little help and inspiration on some routines as my brain has just froze over the last few days.
I have been asked to do a commercial to highlight identity theft and credit card fraud! they want to film magic street style so things need to be quite visual for the camera, any thoughts or ideas are very welcome, and I thank you in advance for your help. Kindest Regards |

...I don't mind sharing ideas, but why did you accept a job without having ideas already formulated which would fit the theme of the commercial?
Anywho...one idea springs to mind. This could be the final scene for the ad... VOICEOVER: Don't get burned by identity theft...(magician opens wallet to reveal flames bursting from within it). Or...magician standing with button down shirt opened to reveal a t-shirt underneath showing a photo of his face. Stranger standing next to magician has same clothing but photo of the t-shirt shows strangers face. Stranger turns back to camera and quickly turns back to face camera, but instead of strangers face on the t-shirt it is now the magicians face...could be used to explain how quickly a persons identity can be stolen. Obviously you will need a fire wallet and Calen Morelli's Dress Code... |

Those are cool ideas. A while back I saw a credit card effect where a hole was moved around and pulled off. How bout some good Ole fashioned pickpocketing

Are you a pickpocket? Is that what they want?
You’re contract should spell it out. I can’t believe you have full artistic license on a commercial.

The whole situation seems odd to me. Usually a Comercial will have a creative direction.

Hi all Thank you for the input, Rocky those are cool ideas and the reason why I asked the question Thank you, and it is what makes the Café great despite much bickering and !@#$%ing.
I have been asked to do it which does not mean I will accept! I have a meeting on Tuesday with the company's media department to discuss ideas concept etc. |

Credit card (stolen) turns into money EB style, pickpocket routine, photo on ID card changes with a wave of the hand etc..

Appolo Robbins has that credit card carrier he produces behind a spectators back that might work.
Though I'm not sure if that is marketed or not. |

You could try 'hello, my name is' by Cameron Francis to demonstrate identity theft, you could present Codebreaker by Gregory Wilson and Michael Murray on a spectator's phone to demonstrate how easy it is to find out a four digit pin number.
Hope this helps! Sophia |

Tom did an ad once.
The owner was impressed by Tom's Magic and wanted Magic in his ad but only had a vague idea of what he wanted. He left it up to Tom to tell him what might work and then chose from that. The Owner, Film Crew and Tom worked it out as they went on the shoot day. It was more haphazard and more stress than we expected. It turned out OK for an ad but it was more about the AD than the Magic. It was just glimpses of Magic in the end. Tom chose from skills he already had and thought how best to use them for the effect they wanted. I don't think you'd want to try anything new. The hardest part was doing sleight of hand "in the shot" hands only, in an imaginary circle, leaning over a table. It was nothing like performing. Lots of stress for Tom but an interesting experience. -Mary Mowder |
