Was this ever solved?
I have a deck that came from a collection that is marked Thunderbolt Deck.
A Haines deck in their classic box. No instructions.
Not a Mirage Deck, but in some ways similar.

We are thrilled we were able to bring The Grim Game to the world! Thanks TCM.

Never did figure out exactly what it was... Smile
While the amount of water has remained static, the amount of Tequila and Triple Sec available for making Margaritas has expanded enormously. So you see, we have made progress after all. ~Anonymous

Maybe, it would be better to work in reverse? Start with what the deck does and then figure, what and how we would do it now? Just thinking out laud. There has been some very good brainstorming going on these days on the board and I'd like to see, the mystery solved.
No matter how many times you say the wrong thing, it will NEVER be right.

If I'm not responding to you? It's because you're a TROLL!

Nelson's Thunderbolt Deck is explored in Volume 4 of "The Nelson Enterprises Manuscript Collection." Check eBay for print editions, Lybrary.com for PDF.

The Thunderbolt is similar to a Svengali Deck, except that it can be overhand shuffled. That's because the Thunderbolt Deck has the faces of the 26 force cards treated with roughing fluid. The force cards each sit atop a regular card (with its back roughed). Also, all cards in this deck are the same length.
