After playing with Jeff Hobson's new "Sorcerer's Gold" Egg Bag for a few days....here's my "Quick Take" on it.....

1. Nice Bag! Handles exactly like Hobson's "Original Red/Black" bag....only....BETTER!.......Why.. you might ask?
2. It might just be my old, aging eyes, but to me, at least, the new "Sorcerer's Gold" Egg Bag looks a TAD bit bigger than the original, with a BIT more room in the "secret something".
3. Because it's just a TAD bigger, most of the secret moves seem easier, smoother, and faster.
4. The Gold/Purple color is GREAT for stage and platform work.........it won't get "Lost" against a black tux or black curtains.....thus...it's a HIGH VIZ Bag....to me that's a good thing. Yes, I know that some will rightfully argue "Hey....It's an Egg Trick......Not a BAG trick.....and THAT's why I always use an inconspicuous black Malini Egg Bag..."

Right..........they're pretty ***ed hard to see too often as far as I am concerned....just my 2 cents worth! And using a "Lost" Egg Bag on stage "AIN'T TOO ENTERTAINING" to my way of thinking.....

So, congrats to Jeff Hobson on another GREAT Prop!

Thank you for that nice review! . . I'm impressed myself!
To explain why you might think that the Sorcerer's Gold is a bit bigger is probably because of a slightly heavier fabric with more "pills" as the industry calls the small, natural bumps/humps along the fabric. The template is exactly the same as the red and green bags but this fabric is simply thicker hence the illusion (thank you) of being bigger. I am glad that you like it and of course I agree with you that the color of the bag (or any prop that you use on stage) should be seen. Black simply disappears on stage unless you are wearing a brightly colored outfit and, face it, most magicians dress like morticians so color should be included if for no other reason, contrast. Magicians seems to forget that, with few exceptions like mentalism, we are in a visual art. If the magic can't be seen, then why do it?

Hey, Jeff:

No problemo!

Ya calls 'em as ya sees 'em, right?

By the way, a potentially under-appreciated bonus that you offer to the Magic Community with your Hobson Egg Bags is that the eggs that you offer are just plain superior eggs, period.

They are BIG SUCKERS....easily seen in the back of the house, and, <I don't know how you did it>....but they GLIDE beautifully inside your Hobson Egg Bags....well done on this! To me, at least, that GLIDE thing going on with your eggs and egg bags is a terriffic feature for workers, IMHO.

Just my 2 cents worth.......

Jeff's bags and eggs are superior to other bags, IMV. As Jeff points out, black bags are sometimes difficult for the audience to see. You know what, he's right. I have his red and sorcerer's gold bags and I love them!

I just ordered the new bag - I spent the last year trying to justify the cost as shipping to Australia and the USD conversion kicks a lot of us here down under, in the teeth.

I saw the Hobsons egg bag for the first time when I saw Jeff perform it at the Illusionists theatre show and again on the DVD I got when I saw the show travel to Australia with a new set of magicians. No matter where I go, everyone keeps pushing me to the Hobsons egg bag despite it's hefty price tag and shipping cost as the gold standard.

After seeing the Sorcerers bag going for a little more than the normal red one, I jumped the gun and ordered it along with some eggs. I actually got to see the instruction long before buying the bag and I think knowing how Jeffs bag works compared to the ones I used to have sold me on how easier his design is imho.
