I recently went to a local mall and recorded a few tricks, this was definitely the best reactions, but there are a couple moments I'm not sure if I'm exposing. I don't want to post it obviously if I'm giving away the method. I won't point them out because I want to see if they're noticeable, or if it's just me being over critical.

Videos like this with just a single full routine, or compilations of several performances strung together focusing more on people and their reactions. My thinking is magicians would rather see the former, but lay people the latter, so I guess I have to decide the audience I'm going for. But it's not like I can't do both. |

Give it a try. Worst thing you can do is fail and based on what I've seen from your vids I doubt that will happen

I enjoy the performance, to get better, the best is to consistently perform, maybe perform at least once a day, or 3 times a week, in a month or 2 you starting to find your self performing with a sense of mastery in both the routine and audience management.

Eback, I like the misdirection ^.^, had to go back and watch in slow-mo to catch it . Looks like you guys are having a great time! I also watched some of your other videos on the channel, nice work (esp. with the kids ). Keep performing and eventually you can reach that Penn and Teller level (I say that because of this performance, similar to yours but much more advanced, link followed ) I LOVE how they explain what they do as they go, but can still keep you lost in their magic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4U-kHdXgz0
I would try to add a few more effects to build a routine. As for youtube and building a channel/content........ I would perform multiple effects for said group(s), then take the reactions/performances for EACH effect for different videos. So say you do effect 1, 2 ,3 for the first group then effect 1, 2, 3 for the second group.... then go and make three youtube videos, once with effect 1 and reactions from group A and group B, and then a second video of effect 2 with group A and B, and so on. (That is just one example). For a promo or homepage video you could do multiple effects, or quick clips put together to create more of a teaser/trailer. With youtube it is really playing around and seeing what works for you. Upload a few videos and gage your feedback. Then try something different and see how people like it. Then go back to what got the most views/comments/ratings and add a twist to it. Remember to try different camera angles, focus on the effect, on the reactions, pre scenery visuals to form a picture of where you are/ the mood you wish to set, background music, editing effects, a lot goes into making a successful youtube channel. Consistency and dedication is key. Best of luck! and Keep up the good work! ps. if you don't mind me asking, what is the name of the pen effect? (you can pm if you want.) If not that is understandable as well. (=

This is 100 times better than the guys who sit in their bedroom and show something to a camera because they are too afraid to go out and really do it.
Nice Job!!! Keep at it and have fun. |
