I would like to start an act with a simulated escape/walking through a wall/jail cell door, can someone point me to a publication that would support a method to do this?

Dear Roy,
Rand Woodbury had several concepts that are similar to what you are looking for in one of his books. If I am not mistaken, there is also description of a version in the Jarret book. Furthermore I know that Jim Steinmeyer has a new version of this illusion. Perhaps you should contact him... Best regards, D |

I would think that Andrew Mayne's "Walking through a Mirror" could be adapted to bars in place of the mirror. You might also consider an alternate version of the bars on a "Barricaded Barrel" illusion.

This seller has a private feedback profile. I would be cautious buying anything from someone who has elected to keep their feedback profile private.

You know what I would really like to see? A "walk through wall" illusion that uses no cover (ie. you actually SEE the perfomer walk through the wall). I'm currently working on trying to do this but I've had nothing but dead-ends for the past four months.
Do you guy's think that this would be an interesting stage effect? I think it would ,but I'm just asking for opinions and suggestions on how people would see this happening. Here is my current vision of this effect in action: A solid brick wall is brought out on stage. A member of the audience comes up and inspects the wall to make sure it is solid. Then the perfomer places his hand on the wall and begins to push while concentrating. Slowly, his hand melts through the wall. He then proceeds to visibly pass through the entire wall and comes out the other side. The End. I'm sure that your most common reactions will be "dream on," but that's exactly what I am doing. Bringing... or attempting to bring my dreams to fuition. Right now I only see this happening in the most tightly controlled circumstances and using technology that.... well, isn't feasible unless you're Copperfield and you have the means to pay for it... and even then it might be hard. If you have any ideas for books that might be of any help, (in optics, illusion, whatever), please do suggest them. Thx for your feedback.
What you have seen this evening was real, though it may have nothing to do with reality.

Hi MindFreak,
I thought of the same effect awhile back. Great minds think alike hehe. It's actually not as difficult as it first sounds. Just think outside of the box. Here's my thinking: It's not so much the method of the walk through it's more the disguise of this method. Have a think about it. Good luck with your version. Mike J Rogers

Mike J Rogers,
Thanks for the advice. I sort of think I understand what you're saying.... sort of.... I've been looking though some of my old designs that were impractical and with your suggestion in mind I think a modification to something I've already done might make the effect possible is a fairly practical way..... but still not good enough for me (being a perfectionist). I want to make a perfect and beautiful effect and then sell it to Copperfield while retaining performance rights for myself as well.... now I am dreaming!!! HHAHA But seriously, much thanks for your suggestion.
