What are your favorite false multiple cuts that really fool the crowd?

I just got Bill Malone's On the Loose volume 1 (yeah, I'm behind the times). It's very fun. He does a variety of false cuts that are good.
One that I use, but didn't learn from anywhere in particular, is one he taught on the tape, the one Marlo used to use all the time. Not sure of the name, involves two swing cuts and three packets going to the table. That DVD would teach you four to six good false cuts with multiple cuts involved, as you specified.

A very nice (and not difficult) cut is the Blind Swivel Cut that you can find on the Tudor's Show-off 1 video. It is not too "showing-off", but beautiful, a smooth triple cut with a fancy touch.

I'm pretty sure I've made up a good multiple (in my opinion) false cut. If you want I can try to describe it to you. PM me if you like.

The thing about multiple false cuts is that there are so many variations. Lenheart Green volume 1 contains a few but the best ones are the ones you create on your own. Start with someone else's idea and then play with it, mold it into your own sleight.
The thing I like about Lenheart Green is that he is a poor teacher. Don't get me wrong, his card handling is probably the best in the world, however, he almost forces you to do it your own way. He just helps get you started. Be creative.

I do several from Sam the Bellhop, but I mainly do one that I adopted from the Allmagic web site. It is a quadruple cut to the table and I like it a lot.

I think the Conradi-Horster false cut is a thing of beauty. I've used it to fool even magicians who KNOW it!

I currently use Lee Asher's "Sibling" from his Five Card Studio video. Not very difficult and can be done in the hands.

Lenart Green Shuffling Green is a new DVD centered completely around false cuts and shuffles. As always, great material.
If you were to shoot a mime, would you use a silencer?

Speaking of false cuts, I have another question which I think you can ponder upon. When I'm not into magic yet, I always thought if a person can do a very fancy cut, there is a possibility that the deck is actually not being mixed up at all. It's pretty logical, with a really sophisticated fancy cut. It goes to show that the person possessed remarkable skills and thus the possibility of the cut being false is quite high. There is a greater chance that a more innocent-looking and simplier false cut will be much more convincing. Tell me what you guys think regarding this issue.

Artofmanipulation,
I couldn't agree more. Your post on fancy cuts is very relevant. For years I have used Darwin Ortiz' Up the Ladder cut from his book At the Card Table. It is a wonderful false cut that I shall continue to use though recently I have been using the simplest false cut I know. You place the bottom half of the deck on the table followed by the top half. This really fools people. As you say, the innocence and simplicity of this cut really convinces people it is genuine. Regards David |

De'vo's Cradle to Grave sequence is the best multiple false cut in my opinion. It's just so crazy that people are concentrating on the entertainment value of the difficulty of the cuts and all the motion that happens that they have no clue that it is even possible to control cards with these moves. It just complete kills them at the end when the cards are in complete order. This is my favorite for visual skill false multiple cuts.
My favorite sequence for a gambling-type routine is Push Through Riffles, Up the Ladder, De'vo's Table Cut and the Flip Flop Shuffle. |

De'vo's false table cut is called the "Fire Weave". It does fit perfectly into a gambling routine and is very deceptive and one I have never seen before. It's published in his false creations book that is sold out, but copies can still be found here and there in the underground pro-flourisher/sleight of hand circles.

I do a trinary cut then I will say, "that was just a flashy way of doing this" and then do the simple cut that David spoke of(placing the bottom half on the table first, then the top)Looks very fair. People expect some degree of showmanship IMO.
