Hey
So I really love card tricks. never really used gaffed decks.. but now I want to start. i did a little research and I come up with some questions: So the bicycle gaff deck (with rider back/standart box) are no longer available in stores right? I saw some where that USPCC said no more gaffed decks with bicycle standart cards.. only special like ghost/tiger and so on. so no new decks come.. now I want to ask about "old" decks that still available on some sellers. i come up with 3 decks. I'm going to buy them all and want to ask you if there are more gaffed bicycle decks ("normal" bicycle) and generally if I'm right with what I'm saying here: "oldest" gaff deck is Ultragaff. its the black box one that says Ultragaff. From what I understand, its only in Red back bicycle. after that, they had the "Bicycle gaff deck". which had a revese letters box.. the "bicycle" and evrything else writting on the box was in revese font. these came in red or blue back. the "newest" one is super gaff. (v2?) it has half blue half red box.. and cards come in red or blue. So those are only 3 gaff decks on bicycle cards made? the order is right? (newest to oldest) Thank you! |

The Ultimate Gaff Deck (Amazon) https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Gaff-Dec......0IFQS5MQ $21.88
Packet Killer (Amazon) https://www.amazon.com/Packet-Killer-Tri......YX1AG9Q7 $29.38 Mixed Deck (Amazon) https://www.amazon.com/Packet-Killer-Tri......YX1AG9Q7 $29.99 Sometimes Amazon has them for slightly cheaper than the magic sites, sometimes not...I have all three and they're great...what's this about no more Bicycle gaffed cards from USPCC? Is that for sure, or just a rumor?
While the amount of water has remained static, the amount of Tequila and Triple Sec available for making Margaritas has expanded enormously. So you see, we have made progress after all. ~Anonymous

While you may find someone selling an original Ultragaff deck online, beware that there are imitations coming from sellers in the far east. Since the Ultragaff decks will never be made again by USPCC, it isn't a practical deck to begin working with.

They no longer allow any change the standard artwork of the back of the typical Bicycle Rider Back. 2. They no longer allow any change to the joker artwork. 3. They no longer allow any change to the ace of spades artwork. A change in artwork is a difference in the actual shape or fill of their artwork. Bicycle allows color changes. As long as the gaffs follow these rules, then the gaffs can be made. If you need gaffs that change the artwork of the back, joker or ace of spades, then the gaff has to be made in either the Mandolin back or the Maiden back. |

I was on a similar journey a few months ago, and discovered that quite a few of the Bicycle gaff decks that were published previously are no longer available. However, here are two that are quite readily available (e.g. via Amazon):
- The Ultimate Gaff Deck - Packet Killer Both were mentioned already above by others, and I can compare them because I bought both (one for me, one for my son). Both are published by Magic Makers and come with an instructional DVD. They are quite similar, so quite frankly there's not much point in buying both decks because they contain a similar selection of gaffed cards. So which is best? That's an easy choice: I cannot recommend the Ultimate Gaff Deck Kit (Amazon review), mainly because the instructional video by Kris Nevling is very poor quality and feels very amateurish. It also doesn't use the standard names for the effects taught. For more info on this, see my review and more details about this product in this thread: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......c=618820 However I can highly recommend Packet Killer (Amazon review), which comes with an excellent instructional video by Simon Lovell. If you are just starting out with gaffed cards, then there's no need to purchase three different decks. This one has material for over a dozen tricks, and will keep you busy for a long time! Another vote for Packet Killer -- the DVD by itself (without the cards!) would have been worth the price.
Another thing to consider, as you said in your original post that you wanted "Gaffed Decks" as opposed to a deck of gaffed cards. The Packet Killer deck contains several different kinds of gaffed cards. (It also includes several non-gaffed, i.e. "normal" cards to use in conjunction with the gaffed for several small packet tricks.) But for a gaffed "deck" like a Svengali, a Mene-Teckel, am Invisible, etc. --- well, with very little ingenuity you could probably construct several of those on your own. |
