I am working on a bill to lemon routine. It's kind of a hodge podge of ideas melded from various routines I have seen.

This is for mainly for an audience of kids with a number if adult spectators as well. A brief overview is as follows :

At the beginning of the show there is a box on a stand set to one sid of the stage. I inform the audience that this is my magic emergency kit in case anything goes wrong during the show.

When I come to the bill to lemon. I use the guise of doing an experiment based on some information I read online about the new Canadian polymer bills an how they were Kevlar reinforced and heat resistant as long as they are surrounded by something that is more combustible. Bill is placed in to a coin envelope and burnt (tt steal)...some patter about not believing everything you read on the Internet etc....begin to leave stage (Ala Bill Malone version) return to stage "remembering" the emergency kit. Volunteer brings the box an opens. Removes lemon and this is where I stumble for patter. Trying to think of a good way to wrap things up. I use the Carl Cloutier method of ringing in the loaded lemon and then reveal the bill. Just looking for a premise to cut in to the lemon.

One idea I'm toying with is explaining that to get their money back they can make lemonade and sell it to all the thirsty audience members.

Any other thoughts?

If it's mainly a show for kids I'm not sure if bill in lemon is the best effect for this audience.....bill in banana maybe, are they mainly older children ?

With regards to patter suggestions I think you pretty much have that figured out from what I've read, good luck and enjoy the process of putting it together as that in itself can be really gratifying once you get all the pieces to fit Smile

I think for family audiences pop hayden's time traveling bill would be closest to the plot you're trying to achieve.

P.S. This is one of the best justification I've seen.
