Tommy Wonder had a set of Richard Ross's for sale at one time. I am not sure what happened to them.

Magicol,
There are no multiplying pocket watches on the market, old or new. Maybe you could manufacture them and we could all enjoy your efforts. |

There's a company in eastern Europe that make and markets them . I stumbled upon their website through the allmagic listings one night. They also advertise in Magic magazine.

This is an old thread but the Watches available at the van Dokkum site deserve a mention here.

Great thread. I am also very intersted in pocket watches and perhaps pocket eatch manipulation. If there are any books, references or other effects on pocket watch manipulation, please post here or PM me. I would love to start getting a collection of what is out there and start researching it a bit more. I wear a real pocket watch in my performances, and it just makes sense to me to really use this as part of the act.
I would LOVE to do pocket watches and them produce a bottle and vanish the watch into the bottle while playing. "Time in a bottle" It would fit my style and be a fun routine. Any info would be great. Thanks. Feel free to post here or PM me. Kyle

The watches from van Dokkum are $5500. I inquired. That is a bit much for watches that do not tell time and are not gold placed. There are only 10 set made so hurry if you can afford them. There no instructions with them, but you can get an old video of the perform of Richard Ross early years doing the production. This is not the same as appeared on television in the late 1970's to my recollection. These have an improved release and spring apart mechanism.
The late Sam Berland is the only magician that produced a book on Pocket Watches. Many of the items have been marketed in the past. It is out of print. |

Encore Magic owns the rights to all the Sam Berland stuff. They might be able to help you in geting a copy of the book.
I have an old set of multiplying pocket watches that I think are German. Horace Marshall made a few effects with pocket watches and alarm clocks, one was a transposition between the two. Bartl made a wonderful effect where watches were produced and hung in a round framwork. Two doors (front and back ) were closed and when opened the watches had vanished and there was an Alarm clock. Jess Thorton did a whole act of watches and clocks as did Linden Heverly. Thorton worked for Abbott's. Nick Rugerio has recreated Thorton's pocket watch ladder and it is a thing of beauty.

Yeap, I saw Topas perform this and thought not only was he so creative, but why didn't anyone think of it sooner. That is the type of creativity I admire in his work.

Yes a tru master in my eyes. he is so creative at the convention I saw him at last october he was MC at one of the shows truly great stuff. He opend the show with a manip act where he plays the bongos at the same time as he does ballmanipulations. I'v also seen him produce a bunch of realy large speakers from an emty paper box while he is singig "one more, give me just one more". Each of the speakers adds a pice of the music, first being the rythme, second the base and so on until he has a full suporting musical background. and yes he shows the back of the speakers as well. Each speakers are just large enough to fit the box. this is one of the most entertaining productions i'v seen and you get to singalong:)
