Yes absolutely as I pointed out to Mark at Saturn magic use Phoenix d deckers and it saves any card splitting and hard work and makes the card feel stronger and much more genuine I am wondering whether you have to use the tally box at all although it creates nice cover I am wondering whether you can get away with another box or as long as the backs are blue ie Phoenix blue cards the tally box will still fly by laymen Initial thoughts are this is a very promising and different effect

Yes you could use any card box within reason as long as the design allows but the Tally Ho hides everything very well, I have done a bicycle box (10 hearts on back) and it looks good, it depends how fussy you are.

You can buy blank back and face double deckers from Card Shark, but to get around this with the ones I have already the card they picked is shown inside the random card as well as the coin

Just wanted to chime in and say this is flying under the radar but its really great. Everything is very well made, well thought out and it works as advertised. Yes, it will take a few minutes to prep a card for performance, but just grab a deck, do it one night while watching TV and you're set for a while- its not that difficult to set up. All in all, the impact of the effect for the price is fanastic and I highly recommend it.

Well that looks awesome.
I'll wait for a couple reviews before buying, but I do have a question: is it possible to do that coin vanish very slowly? I'm hoping the g*****k allows for a slower motion. Thanks. Tom Phoenix |

I think I'm sold on reviews. Now I just need it to be in stock somewhere so I can snag it.

The gimmick does allow you to do a slow take of the coin and vanish it, that is the way I prefer to do it, I think swirling it around is not a natural way to do it.
We still have some in stock here http://www.saturnmagic.co.uk/new-magic/s......ick.html

Thanks for the head's up Mark. I waited for Penguin to restock since I'm in the US and live about 3 miles from their warehouse makes shipping fast and decently priced for me.

I bought this a couple days ago and this is my short review of SHY
Positives: -gimmick supplied should last a lifetime if nothing extreme is done to it -clearly a lot of thought has gone into it as the coin is able to enter the card without much sleight of hand and without much trouble -The coin is really inside the card which I think would make a really good souvenir and good trick especially because many other versions of this would result in the coin not really being in the card/ having to pre load the coin Negatives: - Did not really understand a lot of what the person in the instructional video was trying to say though he was really trying very hard so thank you for the effort - Gimmick took a rather long and tedious process (maybe about 10-15 minutes per gimmick)- provided you don't screw up half way- but what you make after that should do the trick - Could have provided another piece of "gimmick" to customize on to other boxes - Box provided looks really plasticy and shiny- I custom made my own to solve the problem I probably would heed the advice of the person in the instructional video and perform this as a closer. Then again, I probably may not perform this all the time for my close up set because I do many tables a shift and it may be too troublesome to keep making the gimmicks for one session. I also was able to customize my gimmick in such a way it seems less obvious and more camouflaged. If you purchased this, pm me with a proof of purchase and Ill be glad to show you what I did to my gimmick to hide it better. Overall: 8-8.5/10 Hope this mini review helped! I made up the box in less than 5 min after suffering through the tutorial video (i get that english isn't their first language, but id rather them just add subtitles in that case).
a card will take longer, but for me its just a couple of minutes per card as there is a much easier way to do it than they teach on the video. |

If you make the gimmick with Phoenix d deckers it's takes about 2 mins a gimmick and they look far better and sturdier than splitting a card . The effect is pretty good and does what it says on the tin but I don't think I will be adding it to any of my 5 close up sets just yet . 7 out of 10 would be my rating of this as not over keen on using a completely different box for a one off effect and I believe you need ideally to use this box for the best camouflage 😊

Well thanks guys. It sounds like the card part could wait for a whole new product eg.. A well explained method with a cardshark pack for the non crafty among us. That part isn't original , I beleive . Wasnt there a coin to signed card previously that happened without a box but had the same issues about making the gimmick???

I havent tried it with a d deck yet but it sounds like a good idea. I managed to camouflage the gimmick using a bicycle deck which flies by the audience. I forgot to add another negative which is that the spectators might wonder why the card feels different from other cards- its because of the process to make the gimmick that is taught in the instructions that causes the card to feel and appear different, especially when torn. Granted, spectators may not know that cards aren't made using the technique shown in the instructions but hey, Im pretty sure they know that cards arent made using the method in the video
