Not sure if it's worth it or not but my wife just showed these to me. Definitely an interesting idea. Thought I'd share

Yes, anything is worth taking a look at for ideas. Who knows where a suggestion can lead to?
All of us have mobile phones, money, credit cards and the like that need keeping secure track of while on the streets. Mine are usually in a lightweight backpack. In the past I've bought what are basically mobile phone pouches from a Variety Store [low cost] that can be added to a belt. I put a deck of cards in one. But in the long run if I want to busk without using my usual 'mannish' looking woman's shoulder bag that I can put the shoulder strap around my waist and wear there or leave at my feet at my pitch, I just use pockets on my clothing. That suits me. My Street Magic Show has 4 items, all of which fit in my pants-vest pockets. In my early days I followed Jimmy Talksalot idea of a Doctor's Bag, but passed on to other try-outs, mainly because of the bulk and weight of the Doctor[s Bag. I've just made myself, and tried out on Saturday, a compact collapsible table using a lightweight music stand [tripod feet[ with a small plywood top or two that can be removed when packing up. It packs up compactly and is lightweight. It will probably be used more than my larger, bulkier, heavier Waiter's Stand and tray top. But my balloon twisting and Magic Show don't NEED a table. I took Jimmy's advice. I could benefit from his advice to take nothing [gear] except what you need for your Show!
The presentation makes the magic.

One problem I've discovered with pouches, bags and tables offered for sale to magicians, many of which are quite elegant, is that they may not fit my magic set, even if they match the needs of their creator/advocate. Furthermore, my routines and props have evolved and changed over time, making the items I've purchased obsolete. Some of these items include two suitcase tables, a leather busker's pouch and an elegant shoulder bag. I now make my own tables and build them to suit my needs. I've created my own pouch by taking a lady's leather purse (purchased at a thrift shop), cutting off the handles, adding some cardboard dividers and putting two slits in the back so I could attach it to my belt. I've created different belt packs again by taking smaller bags and pouches (purchased at thrift shops)and adding slits in the back for attachment to my belt. I've found that this allows me in particular to quickly create customized pouches and bags at nominal expense, as needed. |

Noland make a point of his needs changing due to alterations is his act. This is a great point.
Also the belt in the original post are great. But feel the risk that one pocket will be to big and the other will be to small. Something I am playing with is looking for individual pouches for each effect or a way of putting my personal stuff in pouch freeing up my pockets. I have a small leather note book holder from a army surplus store that holds my door and bike key and phone plus cash card. this fits out of the way on my belt at the back. I think even if you don't perform the trick from the pouch each effect should have one so you can load up from home get out and go for it. If you google 'pouches for belts' 'leather pouches for belts' 'Army surplus' 'outdoor and hunting supplies' Also so check out http://www.theambitiouscard.com they already do bags and purses for some effects and coins. I am sure if you ask for belt loops they will be added in a way smooth a effective way. Your find heaps of stuff in different styles. one bit of advice if your loading up a belt start with a decent thick well made leather belt. Thin poorly made belts just bow, twist and sage. Have fun enjoy
Enjoy your magic,
and let others enjoy it as well! |

I guess one point I'd like to emphasize is that you can take ANY zippered canvas, vinyl or leather pouch, bag, container, add 2 slits in the back with an exacto knife, and in 10 seconds, create a container that slides onto your belt and will hold props. The thrift stores in my area are filled with racks and bins of suitable bags etc. that you can buy at a nominal price and convert instantly into a useable belted carrier/pouch.
