I'd love if you even tried to understand what I'm saying instead of just trying to be right. Is it my poor english?
You keep repeating you have the right to criticize... I didn't say you shouldn't criticize. And I never said you were wrong to do so. But I know you understood what I meant... Where in any of your posts on this thread is a critique on this book? How could you criticize if it isn't even written? All I see is you (and others) either trying to be funny and I'm missing the point, or you're just bullying. Do you really think any of the following posts helps anybody besides yourself? Sorry, but that's what I see... Quote:

Ironic, isn't it. If Fraser hadn't sneaked onto the Café disguised as his sister to open a thread to hype his £150 book which isn't released till next year, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I don't quite know what he and you expected. Three months worth of "I can't wait", "my order is in", "this is going to be brilliant"? Best laid plans of mice and men etc… "It is just a shame that people with so much to share get tired of the Café and leave." Nothing to do with me. The co-author of this book is a member and in the last 30 days he has contributed the total of ZERO to any threads other than those related to stuff he's selling. |

I remember fraser from a few years back - he was a quiet, creative left of centre kinda guy...he used to give a hell of a lot of his stuff away...and some of it was fantastic, even if it gave you other ideas to experiment with, yourself...
and I do appreciate what he and others try to do with the whole propless approach...i've tried it, not really for me - but that doesn't mean its not for anyone else, AND I know and have seen it work very well for all kinds of people... i think though - it is a bit off to see a propless name and PIN guess appear every couple of months, each one being labelled as the best yet...and both name and PIN seem to be the obsession for a lot of the propless people...i can kinda see why too, personal info and secret info, nearly always a winner... but I'd like to see the propless eye turn to other things from classic mentalism, I thought one of fraser's better ones of late was the aura-reading one...i felt that was a clever base technique, and the presentation was at least unusual and straying from the norm...it just had a few holes in it...which was a shame... so I would like to see more from the propless peeps who would get more props from us geeks utalising their billetless-peeks...er...yo...
I've asked to be banned

I was sent a free copy to review. Yes I am a good friend of Fraser, before you ask, but I will not allow that to influence my thoughts at all.
When you see this YOU WILL BUY IT. It really is that good. This is going straight into my working repertoire. This is limited to ten copies. When they're gone, they're gone. 10 percent discount for preorders. This gets amazing reactions. We are so lucky that he's sharing this with the magic community (for 150 pounds). It will be hard to top this. This is the best effect to be released since HUG. Justin N Miller. Etc etc. |

The classic fake magic Café account. As likely to fool anyone as my sister putting a stick on moustache on, talking about her kids a lot, and telling us she's our uncle!
I don't know martin pulman but I think his posts and opinions resonate with me more than anyone elses. So many "creators" with no demonstrable performance experience and no presence on the internet for ever doing any public shows come on the Café; contribute near nothing, try to flog their overpriced mentalism; then get the hump if anyone dares to say anyhthing other than "sounds great" or "cant want" or my favourite which guarantees the writer is a stooge; "i wish I could keep this for myself". Without people calling this nonsense out; these peopke are left to sell overpriced rubbish created purely to make money. I've no axe to grind with fraser specifically but more a general observation of in particar "propless" mentalism or as I generally refer to it; the art of replacing a simple billet with a legnthy process involving weird language or maths. That said I do like a small amount of propless stuff including one of fraser's ideas of old. As I say; my comments arent aimed at fraser specifically; this could genuinely be amazing and worth the money (but very little is these days); I just think magic has become a festering pool of commercialism where there is more money in flogging magic than performing it |

Yes, I would like to make it clear I have nothing against Fraser. I have met him (I think) and he seems like a lovely guy. He's just the current manifestation of a tiring trend that has gone on here for years. Others are absolutely free to disagree. But I draw the line at being called a bully. I have been personally threatened with physical violence on here and had to suffer the most vile abuse aimed at my mother -all from one of the original over-charging, hype brigade. And all because I said his $279 peek was utter rubbish. So you'll have to forgive me if I've got a slightly itchy trigger-finger when the "friends" start piling in.

I have no idea what you mother has to do with this conversation, nor how that could justify anything you would say... But I do regret calling you a bully. I'm sorry for that.

Hello Paul
I do feel that the Café has been a conduit for many effects being created with the sole intention of making money. However I would like to believe that in the world of magic and mentalist online communication outside this Green world here, there is a vast amount of knowledge being shared between trusted friends , mentors etc . I am a creator , not a performer , which to many here means I am therefore not capable of creating workable effects because I am tarnished with the brush of guys selling rubbish and not tested under real world conditions and various performing venues . Until recently I had never really put my mind to creating effects for a stage performer , I mean this is a world where I had zero knowledge and had always been sensible and dismissed the notion a creator could make a useful contribution in this field . However having read on various threads the field of stage mentalism is the zenith of the Art , I thought hmmm why not have a go . Wrote up the outline of an effect including premise , method and props and sent it to a few full time pros who work internationally . I am fully prepared to read feedback that says it is crap or the glaring weaknesses are as follows , never understand why people are so sensitive to feedback , what matters to me is creating a good effect , not feeding my ego . Anyway , the emails came back asking for my permission to use the effect in their show. It never ceases to amaze me that these gentleman always ask for permission to use my work . How much is an effect worth that a professional performer is willing to add to their stage act ? I shared the effect for free because the value to me is knowing the effect will be performed on stage , a place I can never see myself being but also these professional will take the framework of the effect and make it their own . I guess what I am trying to say is that not all us amateurs ceate the poor quality mentalism Andrew |

Adrien,
Martin was threatened by Jerome Finley. Jerome went totally mad on the Café a while back and began threatening people, saying he had people that kill others and all sorts of really over the top nonsense. I have seen the real posts and they are truly horrific. The cleansed versions are nothing compared to what Jerome Finley wrote. That is what Martin is referring to. However, as far as Fraser goes. He was banned for posting a nude picture in his "pimp my crap" thread. He might have asked to leave after he got hand slapped for that. Please stop acting like he's a victim. He sells high priced material that is questionable. Whatever criticism he gets here is par for the course. The old "Oh thanks for making another "pro" leave the Café" is really getting old. Besides, Fraser is not a pro. He doesn't work shows for money. He just sells stuff. James Quote: On Oct 21, 2016, Adrien L. wrote:

I'm saying my general observation is many create a few good things, get a taste for it, but don't have a follow up and so they release mediocre material. It's also galling when you hear "i do this at every gig" and yet there is zero evidence of them performing anywhere other than for magicians. Ultimately I don't care who releases what; as long as its good. However; generally I find material is best released by people who have performed it, honed it and perfected it over a period of time so all creases are ironed out. Of course there are always exceptions. |

More precisely, he is a prolific creator...he produces something very often, and he always comes to the café when it's his turn to sell something.
