So my last post was about competition and it really kicked me in the butt to start constantly marketing instead of resting on my laurels. I have many new ideas (big and small) to market to new and existing customers thanks to you all, but I have a question about analytics. I have google analytics on my site and the data is interesting but not always clear on what to do with the info. One thing in particular is "In-Market segments". As far as I can tell, these are people in the market for other products or services who are ALSO looking for birthday parties. The top 3 are:

1. Real Estate/Residential Properties/Residential Properties (For Sale)
2. Real Estate/Residential Properties/Residential Properties (For Sale)/Houses (For Sale)/Preowned Houses (For Sale)
3. Travel/Hotels & Accommodations

I am guessing the reason the first 2 are I am marketing to growing families with kids that have enough income to buy a new house. I don't know what to make of the 3rd really.

So my question is what the heck do you do with that info? People are looking for houses and magic shows/birthday parties? Hook up with realtors for cross promotion? they are not really similar...

Do you use analytics? What do you do with the info?

Ok, you are really asking 2 questions different than the final two posed.

1. How do I market? (in general)
2. I have some information; how do I use it?

To explain the first question I will use a fishing analogy.
First you have to know your fish, what are their tastes, habits, nuances, etc. (Think demographics)
Then you have to know where your fish are likely to be based on their particulars (think environment)
Finally, you have to present your bait (product) in a manner that appeals to them in an environment they are likely to be at.

This is marketing, fishing for customers.

Second question,
Depends the info you have and the type of fish you want. If you don't know your target fish, then use the data to help figure that out.
