What would be the correct item to use to write in this book?

I think a good old fashioned pencil would be fine Ray. They've been around for a long time. Also, a fountain or quill pen would look beautiful. The uneven strokes say "old."

I have been fiddling with the SE version for a couple of days and I refer yo to The Crypt for quick "Down & Dirty review" & comparison to Codex V.

A 19th-century hand looks very different from a 20th-century, and even letters written during WWII are noticeably different from Vietnam-era writing. Today, children are not even taught cursive writing (!), so in a very few years (already, in fact) our 'normal' hand will look quite dated. I would not use a quill as they quite predate the modern manufactured book. A fountain pen or dip pen would be a fine choice, but only if you dilute the ink (with water) considerably (at least 50-75% water--experiment first and ensure the ink dries looking fairly faded) and only if you can emulate the handwriting of another generation (or know somebody who can)--a calligraphist would be ideal because the 'art' of handwriting has not changed in over a century and a half. A pencil is probably the safest option. As already stated, pencils have been around a very long time. Again, however, be aware of handwriting issues. Additionally, having somebody else do the writing in your book obviates the issue of anyone ever *recognizing* your handwriting there. BC

Sorry Prof. I misspoke. I meant dip pen and not a quill pen.
Never thought about the writing styles but of course you are 100% right. I don't even know if I remember how to write in cursive. I gave it up in college when I chose design as a profession...printing was the only permitted writing due to its clarity.

Hello All...
Today I had the privilege to meet with Bobby and picked up my copy of the Oraculum from him. Since I live not too awful far from where Bobby lives I have the advantage to meet with Bobby and pick up my copy. We all know how special and what a fantastic prop Oraculum is...and I couldn't be more pleased with my copy. I love this item...the look, the feel, but more importantly, the effects that are possible with this very "magical" book. What I wanted to elaborate on just for a moment...is my meeting with Bobby today. What a genuine, friendly, and knowledgeable guy. Upon opening my book with Bobby...he proceeded to share with me the basic effect and then he went into more detail of the workings and secrets of this phenomenal book. And I want to take this opportunity to thank Bobby here in "public" as it were...for his gracious and magical sharing with me. I do indeed, feel privileged to have had this experience with him. As for Oraculum itself...I'm afraid our clients and audiences don't have a chance as we are armed with a prop that is capable of giving our audiences an experience they'll remember...and for many, will probably never forget. We as mystical performers could make a living using just this one item...needing no other props save a Tarot deck (especially if the deck is marked). Thank You Again Bobby...You're One-of-a-Kind... Warmest Regards, Dan |

Oraculum will be something I will use extensively 'till the end of my days. As one noted above, the feel of the leather of the LE is amazing; when held in a sitter's hands, that in itself will speak to them. Reading the description, I was concerned there would be illustrations of a specific tarot deck involved. There are not, leaving you to use the deck of your own heart's desire... I am always astounded when I receive a magical item that is truly useful and that will be put to use often. It happens rarely it seems. What a joy to have this. I am very grateful.

I just have a little test run with it yesterday, once I do the reading with one people, other people around are eager to read their own fortune in the birthday section, they don't care if I know their birthday, they just telling me directly, it is interesting even without the 'trick' now. if you are familiar with Paul or Chris's material, they always stress the similar thing, to do something close to real and the use the "trick" to enhance it, in this case giving personal readings. I must admit I am still green on bizarre performance, a senior mentalist once said to me bizarre magic are only for those who don't work, although I respectfully disagree, I didn't know the answer at that time. However by using it, as well as researching and test run on spectre (yes, you need to research the meaning of it especially I am from Hong Kong, English is not my mother language), and a re-read of the old Kadar manual, it seems I can slowly connecting the dot of bizarre magick.

As for the riddle, I still not able to figure the last two sentences, if you can see my desk, there are slips of paper all over the place, as much as I want to win the special edition, l really encourage everyone to try it, it is quite enjoyable to solve

Not even bothering to solve the riddle, it's obvious the "graph" is a means to surreptitiously discern the sitter's zodiac sign. But...you already knew that.

Just got my copy of Oraculum and all I can say is ... wow! When I first read the PDF, I was impressed, and could see right away how this would fit in with what I do. But after getting the book in my hands. and fiddling with it, just so many possibilities come to mind. I'm working on using this with Chris Gould's Alchemy Square and I think the combination will be amazing. I always get good reactions with Alchemy Square, and now with Oraculum enabling me to get the birth date before I even start ... well ... I'm a god! (Not really). But honestly, this thing is dynamite. Great job, Bobby!

Received mine last week, and this is an outstanding piece of work. As I told Bobby, I feel this really evolves CV to a new and far improved level. His work on the prop alone is extraordinary, but the brilliant multiple methods embedded in the content just make my head spin. I'll be posting more thoughts and ideas in the Crypt, but I just wanted to give a shout out and say how genuinely amazed and impressed I am with this.

Having been out of town when Oraculum arrived, I have now had a chance to enjoy it over the weekend and on this day recuperating from over a foot of snow overnight. There are several noteworthy pieces about this book that I really appreciate. Others have provided their observations around its quality, multiple methods embedded into the book, quality of the aging so as to allow it to pass for a well-cared-for older book of inexact age, and overall aesthetic appeal, so I will not belabor those comments - all wonderfully valid.
My additions to what have already been shared include my sincere enjoyment that Bobby chose to not use formal title pages, page numbers, or an over-abundance of pictures. He has chosen a more text-based prop which, in my opinion, adds to its ambiguity. Without as much definition, it allows more of a sense of possible wonders we work with it. Even so much as to allow one to rip out a page. Brilliant thinking! I also appreciate the COA that simply names a single major arcana card. A nice touch! David |

I was looking at my SE copy and I think the cover would look better if the symbol were colored different from the rest of the cover. Perhaps gold leaf or red ink of some sort. Is anyone else considering such a thing?
