Hi guys!
Just realised I probably posted this at the wrong forum (Penny). Should've posted it here! Just wanted to share an informal performance for some friends over at my home of Asi's ACAAN with you. I hope you enjoy it, and be gentle if you absolutely hate it. https://youtu.be/5xB5w5cRrqM ~ Nique

That's a relatively difficult routine to do smoothly and you did very well. Great job man

Hey thanks man!
Yeah it's not exactly the easiest to perform; I still get very nervous whenever I start the routine, but I'm assuming it'll only get easier with time. ~ Nique

Well done, but the bad news are that it will not change a lot. You have done your mental work and then you have to cut the deck while removing it from the box. Always a bit... Therefore I still think that Ken Krenzel's "Open and Shut Case" is one of the best methods, but unfortunately probably not the cleanest in close-up situations. Jan

Thank you Jan!
I was actually referring to the mental gymnastics involved for this routine, but I'll definitely lookup your recommendations for the box part of the method. The study never ends for us! ~ Nique

Oh yes! While it might have been discussed elsewhere before...
If possible, I'd also like to hear about how those of you who perform ACAAN handle counting to those awkward very high/low numbers. I find anything higher than 40 kind of laborious and do a ribbon spread and count in reverse from 52. Doesn't have quite the same feel building up to the reveal though. For low numbers like 5 and below I place the deck square on the table and have the spectator slowly pick off each card, turning them face up. This slows it down a little and so I still get that moment leading up to turning over the final card. ~ Nique

Hi Dorian. Thanks for your feedback!
I Read something about your Book, And I watched the footage, looks great! |

First thing I really noticed was your hand(s) were below the table ALOT.
Also, your box shift was done at a poor angle relative to the spectator's gaze. Lastly, the delay between the pullout of the first block of cards and the dumping of the second block looked a bit awkward to me, though of course I am very familiar with this effect and perform it alot, so that is perhaps a bit biased. In general, excellent performance! Great false shuffle at the beginning. Had to double take |

I know it's not part of the method, but it gives some reason for your spectator to be suspicious, and I think it takes away from the confidence of your look and presentation.

Beautifully done. I think when this is delivered properly, the spectator shouldn't even be thinking of your hands, or where they are, since it is much more of a mentalism effect. The emphasis should merely be on the freedom of the spectator's choice, which I think you do well, so I'm not sure a layperson would ever notice hands being below the table. I know Asi's handling, but haven't dare to perform this yet due to the mental and physical gymnastics.

It seems like getting up to card 45 or something would take a long time, but in reality, it only takes like 30 seconds. The fairness of it more than makes up for watching someone count to 40. |

Thanks guys for the suggestions and comments! As an aside I've just switched from the Joyal to Mnemonica (no particular reason, just for fun). I hope you guys have as much fun performing this great effect as I have; Asi really created a winner!
