I have such a fear of heights that I can hardly look at the pictures.

What makes these teenagers repeatedly risk their lives like this?
If you need fear to enforce your beliefs, then your beliefs are worthless.

Man, that's kooky gone to seed! I try, I really try to grasp the mindset of this generation, but I just simply can NOT. Their value hierarchy is so totally anathema to comm0on sense. I give up trying to figure these kids out.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

Ask not what you will do when you grow up, ask what you will do before you die.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

It's no different from the hair-raising stunts that previous generations have done. Think back.

I can only hope that he'll win a Darwin Award soon:

Jack Straw from Wichita, cut his buddy down
And dug for him a shallow grave, and laid his body down
Half a mile from Tucson, by the morning light
One man gone and another to go, my old buddy you're moving much too slow
We can share the women, we can share the wine

Maybe nobody told the youngster about the morning there was a building on fire there... that some folks jumped from the heights while millions watched on TV feeling only a shadow of that horror.

10 year old girl doing the Charleston--on the outside of a plane, 2000 feet up.

I doubt these are Photoshopped. I think these individuals are built differently than most. Think of the iconic photograph of the construction workers eating lunch on a girder in New York's new RCA building ( http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/lu......43931148 )...these men and women who work these jobs and others just as risky, don't fear heights like we do, so the risks - while still deadly - may be far less daunting.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Chess Grandmaster dies after leaping from 12th story window ledge to a balcony while engaging in parkour, an urban sport that involves leaping over man-made obstacles such as roofs or fences.

What he does doesn't actually sound all that outrageous to me, compared to stunts others regularly pull. From another article, it sounds as though he made his way up the WTC using an elevator and stairs. The only daring bit was the one arm hang at the end, and I imagine that is something he spends 100s of hours developing the strength and aptitude for.

Perhaps the stupid thing is that he is not marketing himself and earning millions for his stunts the way David Blaine does.

In the old days you were lucky to see your first birthday and now people expect to live to a 101 and so these kids today are playing for far higher stakes. We are going die of global warming this nuclear winter anyway, so you might as well have merry Christmas now while you stll have the chance.

I agree with Balducci - if he's going to do stuff like this, I'll wager he could capitalize financially, if he wished to. Maybe significantly so, though likely not anywhere near the degree David Blaine does.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I don't find him that unusual.

What he's doing is probably not anymore dangerous than many of the 'sports' that so many take part in such as free climbing, wingsuit gliding, etc. I would never do it but that's probably cause I'm old. Smile

My two cents is that he is not photo shopping these pictures. My reasoning? He was on the local news last night here in California for doing stunts in New York.
Magic is like Science,
Both are fun if you do it right!
