If you need fear to enforce your beliefs, then your beliefs are worthless.

I wonder how long before he sues the hotel. I can hear my socialist torts professor now, arguing for strict liability.."Do we want these costs to fall on the random unfortunate victim?"
"Torture doesn't work" lol
Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

I remember I was working in the mighty Marvel mailroom many years ago when someone dressed up as Spider Man climbed the World Trade Center! I remember the typesetter had a television in his room and he was running the news story. Jim Shooter came up out of the front offices, watched for awhile and said; "You know, if he slips, it'll ruin our flagship character!" Kinda cold, but nobody told the guy to make the climb or dress as a copyrighted character! He made it to the top and was arrested. I don't think Marvel chose to sue, which is a surprise being them!

Alain Robert is the man who dresses up as spiderman.
A small proportion of free climbers (which is still quite a large group of people) choose to climb "free solo", ie with no ropes. The cliffs are often of greater technical difficulty than buildings, which tend to be regular, repeating structures. Most free soloers would steer clear of buildings, duebto love of mountains and dislike of being arrested. The activity, while risky, is not as dangerous as the layman may think when done by a fit experienced climber. If would like to see some free soloing, you could do worse than searching for Dan Osman on youtube. |

Actually, there's a thread about free soloing here somewhere. Rockwall (!) has posted on the subject.

At least these two won't be suing anyone.
