What gets me about this is the sheer audacity.
Like the way they just asked for $500 million more, to supposedly finish the $1.5 trillion dollar Dodo bird they've been working on.
What also gets me is how the conversation is never about spending less.
If you need fear to enforce your beliefs, then your beliefs are worthless.

As an aside, I note the causation fallacy in the statement, "Guns are driving the violence."
Of all of the rationales for criminal sentencing, my favorite is incapacitation - people in prison aren't out on the streets committing other crimes. So personally, put me down for longer sentences for (prior) violent crimes. I suspect that would apply to a high percentage of most of the murderers.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

Nice try, but they'll never fall for it.
We all know that the day they divert spending (which would inevitably include military spending) to address social issues is the day Trudeau marches us Canucks in to takeover.

Might be the day Canada bumps up its military budget, too...

As a matter of fact Ron, I will post here what I teach my boys. How? Well, my wife overhead my 12 year old son while he was in the shower speaking to my 5 year old son while he was going the bathroom yesterday evening. She documented the whole conversation because she was so proud of what my 12 year old was telling my 5 year old. I don't want to get the conversation wrong but asked her to email it to me. As soon as she does I will post it here and then you can put a label on me if you wish.

Ok, my wife just emailed me the conversation. Here is the conversation from my 12 year old whose name is Tanner (T) to my 5 year old whose name is Mason (M):
T: Who do we pray with?
M: Our family
T: But who do we talk to?
M: Oh, Jesus and God!
T: Do you believe in God?
M: Yes
T: Always believe in Him. And TRUST Him.
T: Do you admit that you are not always perfect and sometimes you lie?
M: Uh, yes
T: Make sure you tell people sorry and ask Jesus forgiveness too, ok?
M: Ok
T: ALWAYS BE NICE TO ALL PEOPLE TOO.
M: Ok
T: When you start reading bigger words you can start reading the Bible with me.
Now Ron, I understand some here have no interest in the faith part. And I fully respect that which is everyone's right. The main part is the line I have in all capitals. THAT is what I teach my kids. Being nice and respecting ALL people, not just white people. So you and others' baseless accusation of me being racist can live on in your own minds but don't put a label on me for simply presenting FACTS that are there for anyone to see by simply using our friend Google.
RNK
Why do Tanner and Mason believe in Jesus and not, say "Vishnu", or "Ganesha"?
PS - Thanks by the way, for sharing that.

Well Ron, you have no idea who I am. I just posted FACTS and you guys were the judges.
No, you took Balducci’s non-racial comment on military spending and then ranted against minorities, as if one has to do with the other.
Quote: What I am for is self-respect, self-control for ones self and others and family structure . Having these characteristic traits almost eliminates having to prevent births using your unethical suggestions.
One can have self-respect, self-control, and family structure and still practice safe sex. Anyway, how exactly is having the means to prevent disease and/or unwanted pregnancies “unethical”? To the contrary, it’s being quite responsible.
Quote: Your belief along with the other progressives here that redistribution of wealth from the top down will help minorities who fall into the lower wealth class better conduct themselves is a fallacy.
I see. So lower wealth class minorities need to conduct themselves better. I believe you referred to them as having “sickening moral/ethical behavior”. Please, tell us more.
Quote: That's WHY I posted what I did, to simply show you that wealth has nothing to do with the manner in which people conduct themselves.
Right. So if wealth has nothing to do with it, then what does? What do all those names you listed have in common besides wealth?? Hmmm... it couldn’t be the color of their skin, could it??
Quote: The missing components that cause this unethical/moral behavior goes much deeper than just wealth. For you to immediately attribute my post to racism...
Silly me! Balducci was commenting on military spending and then out of the blue you ranted about the "sickening moral/ethical behavior" of minorities. How could I possibly have misinterpreted that as racism??
Quote: And you probably don't remember one of my posts (which I actually posted many times here) that one of my BEST friends is black who I grew up with and love dearly.
You don’t say! Well, I guess I had you figured out wrong then!
Quote: And he is one of the first to agree with me when we talk about societal problems as mentioned here. So go ahead, sling mud all you want, keep avoiding the facts and keep your hands over eyes to avoid the real problems that minorities are faced with. Because your way will definitely help the make things better. NOT!
If it's facts you're fond of, then check out these facts:
Family Values in Red States vs Blue States
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story......26780035
Quote: Research shows that more liberal states, like Mass., tend to have the lowest divorce rates. And the highest teen birth rates tend to be in more conservative states.
and...
(From the Christian Science Monitor)
High divorce rates and teen pregnancy are worse in conservative states than liberal states:
http://www.csmonitor.com/Commentary/Opin......l-states
and...
Red States = Teen Moms:
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_p......ms_.html
It seems that the facts show that YOUR way doesn't have such a good track record.

In the U.S. 25% of kids are raised by a single parent. And 72% of the 25% is made up of single African American parents. that's' a huge percentage when African Americans make up just 13.2% of the population in America. Is that a racist statement by me? Absolutely not since I simply googled it. There is more but I do not need to continue as anyone can use google and see for themselves.
And NYCTwister I believe asked where my dear African American friend fell in his socio-economic status, he grew up in the lower middle class (border line lower class).

Google is everyone's friend.
However, here is where the mitigating circumstances come into the equation.
When you ask yourself "where did all these other parents go?", you're quickly led to considering the war on drugs, which has led to a mass incarceration of minorities - including poor white people.
Add in the for profit prison system on the right, and the welfare system on the left, plus the devastation of the 'crack generation', and you've got the perfect situation for corruption to flourish.
Which it has.
Quote: And NYCTwister I believe asked where my dear African American friend fell in his socio-economic status, he grew up in the lower middle class (border line lower class).
Which adds to the fact that you're right - it is possible for anyone to overcome their circumstances.
However, it is harder for some to overcome the circumstances they have no control over, but have had to deal with anyway.
If you need fear to enforce your beliefs, then your beliefs are worthless.

And what kind of independent research did your 12 year old and 5 year old do in order to reach that conclusion? Did they examine the Hindu Vedas? How did they get to be so confident of their particular religious beliefs at such a young age??

Could be. It's sort of a moot point. The way things are looking, the US military budget is likely to increase meaning us Canucks may get away with paying even less.
So, thank you.

We have quite a few Canadians out here with us. They are rather... robust.
I'm hoping with the new administration coming in there will be more interesting locations available.

A number of celebrities, perceiving Trump to be racist, had announced their intentions to move to Canada, should he win. That may shift the population slightly.
Didn't hear a single one threaten to move to Mexico.

I think I've been able to count on 1 finger the number that, since the election, are still claiming to go through with that threat. The poorer we are for it. But I think the fact that none of them threatened to move to Mexico, only Canada, that they all wanted to move someplace whiter. Obviously nothing but a bunch of racists.

Moving to Canada may take some time. You can't just drop in. Well, not since the Vietnam war ended.
