While engaging in conversations here over the years has afforded my brother and I access to incredible amounts of information, inspiration, and ideas, we have also had the opportunity to extend our relationships to conversations (In person and phone) with members we have become to know. This furthers the value we receive.
Today I had the opportunity to speak to Mindpro on the phone as part of a coaching session he was conducting with my brother. It was great to catch up and allow me the opportunity to thank him for all of his advice over the years. He is now working with my brother in a more intimate way, as my brother works towards becoming a full time performer at the completion of his college education. It is great to hear all the exciting things they are discussing and the directions my brother is moving in. |

Well I had dinner with Mindpro the other night and the jerk didn't even let me buy. How can you talk nice about such a guy?

Hey Dick - seeing your post made me think to get your book for my brother as a late Christmas gift. What is the best way to purchase it?

The last month has been amazing as I have met so many Café members who attended my Las Vegas seminar and workshop as we had performers from 11 countries in attendance. Also since I've opened up some new coaching and consulting opportunities that began last month and some new ones opening up on January and February, it's all allowed me to meet with, talk to and work with performers, beginning, pro and all levels in between. It is amazing to me that I've personally met or talked to over 100 guys (including three girls too) most that all follow Tricky Business here. Many are reluctant to post for several obvious reasons, but seem to follow our discussions here daily for the most part. Each with their own interests, problems, interests and directions they want to go, and I am honored that they have chosen to follow my universal materials and approach for their individual progress and success. It's funny hearing them all talk about us here at Tricky Business as it often sounds like a play or theatrical production when they discuss it. They all love the theme or plot of helping them in the business aspects of entertaining. They know all of the characters, all of the traits, characteristic and reputations of the participants (again much like a play) and they know there will be humor, drama, a trainwreck or two here and there, a few villains and pot stirrers, and an ongoing storyline. New characters come in once in a while and some leave, and how the entire tone of the place can change with just one or two people. One person pointed out it reminded them of my days with All My Children and the soap opera world, to which I replied, I agree but we haven't had any evil twins return from the dead or any "who done it" murders here yet, lol. They also like how we seem to "look out for one another." I must also say as like Charcliecheckers, his brother and so many others that I've met recently and hear from almost daily by PM (my inbox is almost always filled due to these) that it is so nice to hear the appreciation often offered on how it has help or impacted their business and their lives, and even how it has helped improve the financial stability of their families. These are always great things to hear. It seems many have had one of the best fourth quarters and overall years business-wise in recent memory, which is great too. I think sometimes when we post here that we forget how many people follow our posts, our progress, our insight offered and the impact it creates. I'm looking forward to the new year as it should bring some exciting things here too. |

Happy New Year!
I often find that many of the discussions and topics of concern or interest to many I work with quickly turn to the "mental" aspects of our business operations. The right mindset, psychological perceptions and understanding and the proper mentalities of customer service, entertainment business and business operations in general. It is these same mentalities and mindsets that are in play each January as we approach the new year with fresh eyes, mindsets and a time and point for assessment, reassessment and new year's resolutions, both personally and professionally. While many people shrug off the entire concept of "new year's resolutions," I have found that it can be and is for many a time for a fresh/new start or a time and opportunity to make changes, implement new ideas, approaches and concepts, new perceptions and to get excited about the possibilities that the new year holds and can bring us. All signs and indicators point to 2017 being a healthy entertainment market for 2017. Event production, money being spent, market growth and stable consumer, prosumer and professional spending on entertainment all seem very strong as we approach the new year. I must say personally I have seem and heard more and more performers growing and expanding their businesses than I honestly believe I have in most of the last decade. The recent holiday season also seemed to follow these indicators as many performers and entertainment businesses reported a very stable and strong season and 4th quarter. I know I have had a business component for performers and businesses that is a seasonal 6-8 week opportunity for most, and this year I have been hearing consistent results of it boosting incomes an average of $3,500-$5,500 across the board, which had been the highest across the board numbers (all performers, in all size locations and markets) in 9 years. Regardless if you get reflective, motivated or just create a fresh perspective for the opportunity that the new year brings, I wish everyone here at Tricky Business a very prosperous and profitable new year. Some exciting things are coming for 2017. |

It stuck. Happy New Year! Dale |

I made a resolution 40 years ago to stop pointing out that is a very old joke.

I am very much looking forward to 2017. I have used the time off from school to organize my business and set plans for the new year. Keeping myself organized is my resolution. Specifically, my consistency and timing on creating and sending marketing materials as well as expense receipt filings.

Danny- I am curious to know if you take time out at any specific point of the year to reflect on ways or strategies to improve your business, or if it is simply a day to day thing?

I do it day to day.
I do not have seasonal business. So we have to run with things as we go along. Setting up new projects, see if the results warrant further action and so on. We just produced 2 new shows from tip to tail this fall. Now we have them running and are evaluating the progress and response to those shows for the next few months. Then we move to the next phase if it is strong enough. If we wait until a calendar tells us it is a new year to do things we simply lose too much time. There is NOTHING wrong with the idea of a new year and a fresh outlook. It can be helpful. I have always found it quite limiting is all.
