Should've posted this at the same time as the last really.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to over come the double lock on the Hiatt High Security cuff? Thanks, Roslyn

Welcome Roslyn,
If you mean the Speed Cuffs there are special extender picks for that, One made by Norm Bigelow and a new one coming out by Riley, beyond that I'm not sure if the Cannon's can do it, somone that owns a Cannon's can comment on it. X

The articulating extension tool available from the Cannon's is by Ian McColl and can be used with the Hiatts SpeedCuff. I've had success in picking the Speedcuff without an extender mostly when handcuffed in front.
I believe Roslyn is referring to the Model HSS9 Hiatts high security handcuff which has a separate numbered key for double locking a wafer lock on the cuff. Roslyn, I had the same question with another high security cuff which comes with Medeco locks and overcame that by using a retrofit Cuffmax kit for S&W handcuffs with Ian's ADA S&W handcuffs. It's now a hybrid Medeco ADA. |

Thanks Man.Ray (from SpongeBob?) When most people ask me personally about Hiatt HS cuffs they usually refer to the Speedcuff and not the HSS9 which is why I asked.
Indeed with practice one is able to get a normal key or pick to work the speedcuffs, the best postions for me are to be cuffed in front with any of the 4 positions (top/ bottom key hole away and top/ bottom key hole facing body) I did a demo of this once for another board member to show it is possible, not fast but possible. X There was once a gimmicked Medeco on the market which allowed for doing a full view picking and a somewhat close exmaination of the cuffs, I have a Peerless on waist chain with the gimmick, I do not believe many exist. Good idea with the ADA's though.

Roslyn,
The HSS9 wafer lock is pickable but I wouldn't try it in performance. If you're question relates to dealing with those cuffs in a challenge situation, the Cannon's "The 21st Centure Escape Lecture Video" or the lecture notes talks about handling such challenges. X-treem, My only wish with Ian's articulating extension tool (with all due respect to Ian) is that it's handle was steel (magnet friendly). -Raymond |

Hi Raymond,
Why don't you suggest that to Ian? He's on here as trunk8 (send him a PM!). Cheers, James. |

Hi, I am open to making all kinds of things. As my website says, I also do customized work. If there is something you would like for just yourself, maybe an idea made into something tangiable or something I already made modified to your needs, I'm the guy.

Yes I was refering to the HSS9, I appologise for not being more specific.
An interesting idea Raymond regarding the Medeco/ADA clone. And the gimmicked Medeco got me thinking too X. Would it be possible to gimmick a pair of HSS9's so the wafer lock is 'pickable'? Ian any ideas? Roslyn
