I hope this is ok to share here. For the past couple of years I've been working towards publishing some new work. I mention it here because it includes a fair amount of material that stack workers might find interesting, and because I'd like to ask soon for some help from a couple of experienced guys here to help edit and proofread a handful of the memorized deck pieces.
I've already shared some of it with a few folks here for feedback but figured I'd let people here know that it's nearing completion, well frankly ... because I needed a little break and some extra motivation so I took a break last week to play with some of the reference clips I've been using during my writing process. I've edited a short clip together that shows (very briefly) some of the material. I apologise in advance because these clips were never intended to be shown this way, but were cut from a library of clips I've filmed while researching and writing, clips I've shot for the purposes of sharing with some of the great folks I'm fortunate enough to get feedback and help from, with inspirational ideas, writing help and sources. Regardless I thought this was a fun clip and thought some here might like to see it too. Anyway, I hope you find something interesting or enjoyable in the clip, and would love to hear from you if you wouldn't mind helping with some proofing and/or editing. https://vimeo.com/198790768 Thank you! Best to all, Greg

Great clip, and fantastic news Greg, loved The Devil's Staircase and still working on the techniques in the Pure and Simple chapter.
If you want a hand with any proofing/editing drop me a PM more than happy to take a look, if not I look forward to buying the book once it is available! |

This is fantastic news, Greg! The Devil's Staircase is an invaluable resource to stack workers. So, like Rich above, there's no way I won't be purchasing this new book. While I'm not a professional editor, please don't hesitate to let me know if You need another person to put a critical eye to the stack effect portions.
U Eagerly looking forward to your new book, Tim |

Thanks Rich. Pleased to know TDS is still providing stuff to work on. I appreciate the offer to help.
Tim, thanks also for the kind words. After I've put some final touches on writing for the MD section, I'll be in touch with some material to run by you. Cain, thanks! Best, Greg

Thanks for the write up Jack, it's a good prompt for me to pop into this post again. Your help on the book has been incredible. Great post on your blog too, it's always a pleasure to read. I'll look to pick up St George's Hall. You had me at the mention of Maskelyne.
It's great to be nearing the end of another long road, with a new book finally on the horizon. I'm sure it might seem like hype but I can't really express what a thrill it is to be nearing completion on a project that I've been immersed in for the past few years. Some of these routines I have been doing (and holding onto) for years, and goes back much further than my first book. I know that regular visitors to this part of the café know their onions, so to speak, and I'm sure you'll find some interesting material here. I'm really proud of this new book and of being able to contribute to the literature of mem-deck material. It's a real privilege to have been able to run this material by some of the best card guys in the world over the past few years and I hope to post some quotes and bits and pieces from some of those folks soon. Tim and Rich, there could be a problem with my PMs, not sure if you received a message after your posts, but I'm still looking for a couple of guys from the forum here to review sections of the book before it's released shortly. Please let me know if you're still interested. No problem if not. I'll check in here, but feel free to message me at moveunderfire@gmail.com Also I've had a handful of messages yesterday and today since Jack's post asking for more details, and I will post all the information shortly, when everything is done and ready to go. Best, Greg

Hi Greg
Oops sorry just seen your PM now I wasn't ignoring it I just tend to breeze past all the PMs without looking too closely because of all the marketing spam we get! Will fire you an email now! Cheers. Richard. |

Same boat as Richard, here! I likely clicked on the PM in a clicking frenzy to clear the marketing-focused ones. Will ping you now, as I'd be happy to put two additional eyes on this for you.

Greg has been very kind to send me two effects to proof and read through, and without giving too much away, if these are a sample of the quality of the rest of the book, then Greg has another winner on his hands!
The two effects Greg sent have both been from the memdeck section, and both well constructed. My favourite of the two I have read is an update to an effect from The Devil's Staircase which is worthy of its 'version 2' moniker, as it makes it a lot more practical, and workable, taking away some of the requirements from v1 and even adding in the ability for two spectators to get involved in the 'mixing' of the cards but the deck still returns back to memdeck order. This is one I can't wait to start using, it is in similar vein to some of Denis Behr's work on Returning Home, that it shows you very clearly shuffling and mixing the deck, during a powerful effect yet still being able to return to memdeck order, these are very useful effects to have in your arsenal to throw into a set to keep showing that the deck is being mixed. This will be a book that all serious card guys are going to want to own, and especially those in this forum that have a leaning towards memdeck work, and I for one can't wait for its release! |

Thanks Richard, I'm grateful for the help reviewing a couple of the routines. It's been a while...a bit delayed in my reply, but I appreciate your posting here and the kind words about the book.
Tim, thanks also for your help. Details of Deception is almost ready. It's been a long time in the making, and it's fair to say I now understand completely why things take a while before they can be released. As I said in the original post in this thread, I think this material will be of interest to stacked deck workers. There's some more info about the book at this link including a breakdown of the CONTENTS http://moveunderfire.wixsite.com/aboutca......st-ready I'll post some of the review feedback here too. “WOW, what a book ... Chapman has done it again! Details of Deception is a perfect title for this book as the author covers moves and routines in perfect detail. This book is as thorough as one could possibly get. The illustrations and instructions are fantastic. My favorite routine was The Accomplice but the chapters on second deal, peeks and the shiner are unequalled. These chapters are worth the price of the book alone!” – Sal Piacente Keep an eye open for a new post here soon to announce when and where... Thanks to many here for your interest and support in this project. All the best, Greg
