I'd love to get a set of the Cellini Cups.
Any idea where I could pick up a set?

Thanks,

Yes, you can order this at http://www.zauberladen.com
I am not sure if you can buy this in a shop in the states.

Well, the normal ones are 298 Swiss Franks, and the silver one 900 Swiss Franks. 1 Dollar should be something to 1.30 Swiss Franks, but ask Hörbi about shipping rates and so on.

Pete, I saw some last night on the internet for about $225, I think.

Let's see if I can find the URL....

Try this and do a search for Cellini.

I think those cups look great. Nice shape to them.
I wonder if they hold a tennis ball?

Bill Palmer probably knows.

I think they were made to take a baseball.

I have a set that were prototypes, and they are a fraction of an inch too short to take a baseball without wobbling slightly. I'm pretty sure that I remember Cellini telling me that this problem was corrected in the final product.

Shawn Greer at http://www.idealmagic.com has worked with them for a number of years; he might be able to provide you with more definite answers.

I have the Cellini Cups and you can't use normal baseballs. They are a little too big. I take small oranges; they're perfect. With this design of the cups, it looks like they don't fit in the cups and the illusion is a litle bit stronger.

Hey Frank,
I'm holding a Cellini Cup in my hand (that I mail ordered from the shop in Switzerland) and not only will a regulation American League baseball fit inside but it fits so perfectly you can get a chop cup like effect if you want. The baseball with the slightest extra push in loading will stay inside the cup till you are ready to produce it.
Hope that helps,
All the best,
Jim

I have a set of Cellini cups right here on my shelves. You can put a regulation 9 inch baseball (that's the circumference) into them, but they will not sit flat on a hard surface. A padded tabletop will allow them to sit, though. I don't know how old these cups are. I purchased them used from a fellow who has had them for a while.

They will take a cricket ball just fine, though.

Yes, that's excatly true: they fit in, but the baseballs stick in the cups. The cups are not flat. (If the table top is hard.) Normally there will be a kid at that eye level. So this litle sweet will cry, "what's under that cup now?" And since then, no more baseballs in the Cellini Cups.

My Cellini cups allow a regulation baseball inside and the cups to sit flat on a hard surface. Not only will they sit flat but the ball goes deep enough into the cup that it will stay inside chop cup style so that I can lift a cup up with a baseball loaded in it and create the illusion it's empty. I suppose it's possible that the "newer" versions (I got mine 18 months ago) of the Cellini cups are spun differently.
Cheers,
Jim

That very well could be the case. It could be that Zauberladen Zürich had to remake the chucks at some point. This does happen occasionally.

UPDATE: April 7, 2004

I started fooling around with my Cellini cups and various "regulation" baseballs last night. I discovered that some of the cheaper baseballs from overseas have enough compressibility that you can force them into my Cellini cups, but some of the others do not.

Interesting.

Hey Bill,
That's so weird, they MUST have altered the design 'cause I'm using an offical "Regulation American League Baseball" by Rawlings. I work for The MN Twins so I get all the baseballs I can eat. They fit perfectly, they go in loose, the cup rests flat on a hard surface or as I stated above with a little extra noodge they go up inside and I use the cup like a Chop...

Interesting indeed.

All the best,
Jim

A regulation baseball does NOT fit in my Cellini set.
But I don't care. Smile Rather use onions.

Hello All

If you're looking for a set of cups that are road worthy & WILL hold a LARGE baseball, livestock, LARGE orange etc., why not consider......

"The Michael Lee Millennium Cups"

Which can be seen at the 2 foremost cup & ball sites on the planet: http://www.JamesRiser.com (under selecting a set of cups)... OR Bill Palmer's site: http://www.hocuspocusjr.com.

It took me over 2 years to locate a machinist who could do the job right! These cups have been endorsed by many of today's working performers. Again, the MLMC are made to be ROAD WORTHY and are HEAVY.

Cheers

Regarding the Millenium Cups and baseballs:

Not only will the Millenium Cups take a baseball, they will take an 11 inch softball. So, if you want to use a really BIG load, that's the cup to get.

Have you ever tried to load an 11 inch softball into a cup? It isn't easy!
