Russ was quite literally insane.
Once he crossed that line where fifty percent of everything he either wrote, or said out loud was utterly false, it became difficult to parse anything he said, wrote, or did. In the end, he was simply ignored ... a sad end indeed. |

So Artie Fufkin is stating that a majority of accusations (i mean when they were talking about Johnny Chan and so on) in that video are false? I'am curious. They seem to know what they are talking about.
Thank tommy for the video bdw. |

No, I'm stating no such thing ... I'm saying that Georgiev was at any given point in time either lying, or telling the truth ... with a 50/50 split.
Do you actually know anything about him? There was no "World Wide Web" when Georgiev was in his heyday, and all of his heavy online activities occurred on the alt.rec.gambling Usenet newsgroup. I posted regularly to alt.rec.gambling, back in the day - when you could go one on one with guys like Georgiev (as I did many times) or chat up Brunson, who (back then) always responded via Usenet or email. It was the wild west my friend ... the wild west. |

Well, I didn't talk to Russ and I don't know for Johnny Chan, but I talked with many ancient pros and it's not really new info that some old "legends" of Poker (some are still alive) were not reluctant to help lady luck once in a while...

Idk. It seems legit that people around might have an idea to rig wsop tournaments. Even today.

To be clear, guys like DB, CR, JC and others are widely known to have cheated during their playing careers.
Widespread cheating perpetrated by big name players as Texas-Hold-Em started becoming popular is pretty much a matter of public record today. Russ Georgiev was completely obsessed with the subject of cheating, and he repeatedly (and endlessly) simply made up ridiculous stories about himself, and other well known players ... most (if not all) of those stories related to how everybody involved in poker was cheating, and doing so constantly, both in Gardena, and later in Las Vegas. Everybody involved in poker knew Russ, and he was indeed a fixture on the edges of the professional poker world ... it's just that half of what he said (wrote) simply wasn't true - it was simply made up, and Russ would become rabid in his defense of the lies he published. He was essentially a complete and total conspiracy nut, and he wouldn't listen to anybody who disagreed with his wild tales. But nobody in their right mind would completely dismiss Georgiev's comments that cheating by major players was taking place ... it was taking place, and many millions of dollars were moved across poker tables where one, two, three (or often more) players were conspiring to hustle other fish at the table in both Gardena and Las Vegas's largest poker rooms, as well in the biggest private games of the day. Georgiev aside, this was (IMO) Hold'Em's golden era ... a time right after guys like Doyle Brunson moved from fading the white line in Texas, to settling down in the first big poker rooms in Gardena and then Las Vegas. |

It is a bit hard to hear.

And depending on your definition of "cheating", if you happen to wander into one of the big poker rooms in Vegas, and sit down with faces you recognize from TV, you're definitely going to get whipsawed like you've never been whipsawed before. These players have known each other for, in some cases, a couple of decades or more ... so to ask if they can silently signal across a poker table is somewhat of a moot question ... of course they can. In short, absolutely Hold'Em cheating IS taking place today, both in casinos and in big private games. No question about it. With the evolution of both Hold'Em and technology, cheating methods today range from exactly what worked back in the 70's and 80's, all the way up to technology that players couldn't even dream about back then. |

One of the things that were going on in comps here fairly recently was the free buy in scam; bent card room managers giving free buy-ins to the crew and splitting the prize if they won, which is a sort of short change con. Of course, it also involved chip dumping and collusion play. If you go to the poker chat rooms they talk there about the various little things mainly going on in comps.
