It's definitely a winner. Although it's not on their website, if you email card-shark they will send you an invoice for it as they have it in stock. The DVD is also an hour and a half long showing lots of variations on how to perform the effect. |

I can see the chosen card in 2 secs max with the Code deck. Save your money.

This is killer, don't know why anyone would think it's not a strong trick...

The markings are far superior for the way this is performed. I love the code deck, but this is much easier, especially if you have poorer vision. Well worth the investment and I believe it will be a great opener.

This is very similar to something I have been doing for a long time. Only I forced the card with a breather crimp with the deck placed on the table. The only other difference is I have to at least look at the faces to see where the chosen card is in the packet.
I will stick with mine. |

I received this today and think it is a worthwhile purchase. I have The Code as well, but if you like this effect I would recommend getting this. This deck was made specifically for this purpose, although you can use it for pretty much anything, and makes it pretty easy to get the information you need, even if your eyesight isn't perfect - mine isn't and I like it.
I'll be using it, well done! Robert |

OK, here are my two cents as well, as I created and designed the Pure Telepathy Deck:
First of all: this trick was published long time ago as it is one of Boris' Pet routines. However it used a Marked Deck and (his) stack that you have to learn and remember. As long as you are familiar with a stack and are good enough in stress situations to read a Marking on a spreaded deck WHILE NOT LOSING CONTACT with the spectator you are good to go. But if you really want to stay "in touch" with the spectator and "flirt" with her with your eyes, the last thing you want to do is carefully checking all the tiny information on the backs of your Marked Deck. So: good luck with the Code: the effect will be the same, but your performance will lack a lot, if you understand what I mean. Nobody mentions the SUM Deck btw, what has all the features of the Code deck (that was released AFTER the SUM Deck of Roy Johnson btw.). And while I love the SUM marking of the positions as they are FAR BIGGER than the ones of the code, that are harder to read, there is a certain reason why I could not convince Boris releasing this effect with the SUM Deck: He wanted to be able to QUICKLY spread through the cards without the need of opening the spread at least half way to see if the card can be dropped or not. The marking of this deck is kind of a mixture of the Daredevil Deck and our Marked Deck (as the cards also have the classic marking on them). As the Daredevil Deck has huge markings on the back for the value (that are never caught by spectators btw in a Parlour situation), the Pure Telepathy Deck focuses on the position of it and these are BIG. What is not mentioned yet is the strong 5 person variation of the effect. It is based on the Paul Fox Gimmick, for all the older guys who know this great effect. But the boring NAMING of all the cards is completely gone. When he showed me this version, I fell in love immediately. For the future there is certainly a cheaper Refill Deck planned without the routine, then you can compare prices with just a Code Deck IMHO. It is like comparing a dinner in a restaurant done by a chef with a meal from Walmart that you throw into the microwave yourself. Both make you full... Or take a formula one racing car and compare it to a normal car. Certainly both bring you from A to B, but if you need to get to your goal quickly, you know which one to choose. Btw, someone mentioned that it is a pity that our Marked Decks would not be cheaper by a brick! Certainly they are!!! We have volume prices for them, as some magicians want to use only Marked Decks, and I think that our discounts for larger quantities of the Marked Decks are allowing this. The new Large Index Phoenix Decks btw will also be printed with our classic Marking system in the near future. The whole range of Large Index Decks will grow as these decks are really an improvement for magicians.

Both The Code and Pure Telepathy are fine decks and very versatile tools. Personally, I see the same advantages of PT as stated by Card-Shark. Especially because I wear glasses and my eye-sight is not the best. I have used the PT deck for many other things than just the original PT routine(s), a great tool in my opinion.
Also, it is great to hear that there will be Large Index decks with the classic marking system soon. I have already been eagerly waiting for those. Will there also be a Daredevil Deck with Large Indexes? That would also be really great. |

Well, the Daredevil is NOT easy to read from distance, as well as this one. The marking actually is constructed in a way that it turns invisible in a short distance and especially in motion.
An HD-camera is not able to see the markings (did not test a 4K camera yet). This all is on purpose and tested. It is only meant to be extremely easy to read when the deck is close enough to you (and you are blindfolded). However the Daredevil Deck turned out to be the perfect Marked Deck for all the guys who have bad eyesight due to their age.

By "easy to read from afar on the backs", I meant, for me as a performer, I can read the backs easily from a distance up to 1.5 meters, which I consider as "far" from a performer's point of view when it comes to reading a marked deck. For the audience, it is impossible to spot the marks on the backs from that distance onwards. But the large indexes on the front sides are much better to see for the audience compared to a regular deck. Hope that helps to clarify what I wanted to express. |

Do not order the daredevil deck unless, not you, but your specs are near blind. It is the biggest pile of junk that I have ever wasted my money on. There was absolutely no need to produce a marked deck as revealing as this. It was and will be my last ever purchase from cardshark.

And professional magicians are raving about it. They know how to use such a deck without fear of being caught (and therefore not being caught). This is the reason for naming the deck the Daredevil Deck as you have to dare to use it. I was never caught btw, and I handed the deck to many magicians as well who did not realised that they used it. I am happy to refund your deck purchase. Our great variety of released effect, that also include two times winning "trick of the year" here in the Magic Café, definitely are some of the best magic in playing cards you could get in the past years. Working with FISM winners and some of the greatest minds in magic just lead to that result.

I respect everybody's personal opinion. I myself have used the Daredevil Deck several times in my Computer Science lectures at our university to entertain my students. They are always hell-bent on figuring out how a trick works, and I have never been caught. This includes handing out the deck for shuffling and students walking up to my desk after the lecture. Doing tricks in the lecture room is a parlor like situation, and I found the Daredevil Deck very useful for this. I do not hand out the deck for a thorough inspection, but why should I? The heat has never been on the deck, as the presentation is such that the deck itself seems totally unimportant. The students guessed all sorts of explanations, but so far none of them ever suspected the deck or tried to examine it. So, yes, please a Daredevil Deck with large indexes!

A number of years ago I saw Boris do this on stage and it convinced me to learn the stack deck. I now perform this routine regularly on stage. I think it's great, especially if you do it with the right person with music. However, on reaching a certain age, I have found the need to have bigger markings, so at Blackpool this year, I bought the daredevil deck from Card Shark. I will be honest here, the marking was noticed by a sharp eyed non magician friend when I used the deck close up, however on stage or parlour, the Daredevil deck is great for those of us with poor eyesight. Now I use the Mneumonica stack method. I notice that Boris shuffled the whole deck before proceeding with the routine with the new deck. I either don't shuffle the stacked deck or a I do a false cut. That certainly would be a huge improvement from me and a convincer if the new deck allows me to shuffle the full deck beforehand?

In case you do not want to do a false shuffle: As a spectator usually does not cut ultra deep, you could do a real shuffle with some of the bottom cards and bring them back to the bottom. Do this 2-3 times and the deck looks like that it was shuffled completely. The bottom 10 cards might be "out of order" but it is not important.

Thanks for the idea Card Shark. I reckon it's not even necessary to do any shuffles, as long as you show the cards are in a random order ( even though they are of course stacked). A quick false cut is good enough. Love the effect!
