While rooting around in my old "Box-o-Tricks I discovered a rope approx. 15" long with a knot tight on one end. I cannot for the life of me remember what I used it for. Any ideas?

Might be for the old "catch a knot" trick. You show the blank rope hanging from the finger and try to form knot in the end with a wrist flip/ up and down motion
After a couple of unsuccessful tries, voila! Several ways to switch ends during the action.

U.F. Grant's Snapping a knot in rope was at least 30 inches long.
I think you just found a piece of scrap rope you tied a knot in, and threw it in a old box. I owned it for a time. Does your rope show signs of black thread on the ends, if so it may be Squirmy Worm Rope. |
