Actually, I am surprised there is even semi-arguing on this, one of, if not the top, magic forum in the world.
If I wanted to throw down with someone, I would go to the political or NFL forums! Jim Rose

Dr. Strangelove was a true story.
It is well known in the underground world of high-stakes card playing that Johnny Moss slept with a copy of Expert at the Card Table under his pillow.

Also, SW Erdnase consists of 9 letters and not 13 letters as in Daniel Madison. I think this is where Elsdon went wrong. Using 9 letters instead of 13 clarifies and validates the entire decoding procedure. Also, even on downloads, aren't there individual videos presented making the deciphering more valid and ascertainable? This is why I love The Gambling Spot?...always the best and most up to date mystical information. It would not surprise me if a motion picture was in the works entitled "Madison’s Quest for Erdnase" staring AMcD as Dan Madison (without the finger rings of course). Of course, AMcD would have to grow a scraggly beard and get a few hundred tattoos. But hey, no sacrifice is too great for art. |

The audience knew it ahead of time, but they loved it so much in England that he ended up with his own weekly show. I believe this Erdanse vs. Madison exposes a clash of viewpoints in the professional magic world. To the more traditional 'Suit' Magician, Madison makes their skin crawl. To the younger generation, he is a demi-god who can do no wrong. Who is correct? Both are. I am new here, but I do believe that some here take this too seriously. The only reason I do magic is to make people laugh and smile and have fun. If you view it that way and make money, you are not really working and that is the best situation of all. If you are in it for anything else, you are just going through the motions. I have to make sure this post is long enough or it will get deleted and not count toward the required 50 posts to see the magical Buy and Sell area.

I think the boys regard him as a charlatan rather than a magician and I myself do not like charlatans at all. If you are a magician then you must be careful not to cross the line into charlatanry. There some good books on charlatanry; http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=27

If someone does that repeatedly, then it makes it appear they are out of ideas and are just trying to feed whatever overhead monster they have created.

If Madison is a demi-god to the younger generation, what does that say about those highly impressionable and fragile cupcakes? Further, according to Madison, he is the greatest -- at being Dan Madison. That being the case, it seems he has set the bar very low in this instance. |

Which members of the younger generation have you heard describe him as a demi-god?
apart from himself.

"Demi-god" may be an exaggeration, maybe "he is the best no matter what anyone says". I have been out of magic for 20 years and I just returned to it a year ago. A trend that I saw that bothered me about the younger card handlers is that a large part of them have no interest in magic at all. don't get me wrong, I love watching them and I have started to incorporate a few. The Fontaine Kid may be the best I have seen and he is into magic. He seems like a really good role model also.

Thanks. I did not know he had any such follows. I imagined that some people might find his character amusing. It is hard believe that some people take him seriously.
Charlatan, as I mean it, is somebody who wants you to believe as fact his fiction. A god is somebody with power and there are greater and lesser gods. A charlatan will often purport as fact to have some divine, gifted power.
