I've just discovered these (too late) but am trying to gather some information on them, such as how much they were, were they a limited edition, etc. If anyone would be willing to answer or pm about them I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Been a few years since I bought mine but thiiiink I payed around $80.00, I also had Chris have Moonskin make a beautiful black case for them for little extra.

From what I understand hold ye horses in wait as Chris to be redesigning & re releasing them at some point soon thru GA

Yes, Chris recently posted that Alchemical Artifactum is being given a major and ambitious reboot, which is exciting!

Personally, I'm hoping he does some sort of update of Hedge Tarote, which I missed out on... maybe a creepy combo of AA and Hedge..? That would be sooo kewl...

I'm the lucky holder of both Hedge Tarote and AA. I would rather Chris to continue with HT as it was only first stage. I had a word with him back in 2015 and here are his words:

"Well, the original idea behind the HT was that it was intended to be in three stages - it is true. The next stage was to look at it as a reading system and focus for guided fantasy. The final stage was to explain how the HT can be used for genuine magic (which it can)"

So I'm more hoping for some kind of extension than new product.

Well - it is all a little complex, but in an interesting way!

There is a very close relationship between the Hedge Tarote and the Artifactum.
Let me explain....

Sometimes when you are working on projects you are sort of 'channelling' something (the most rational explanation is that you are channelling your own unconscious). This means that I am often grasping for something that does not fully reveal itself. I do not think that there is a single thing that I have every produced that I *fully* understood at the time. Many mature and reveal themselves many years after being first produced.
In my *personal* view, this is how we should all work as creators and performers. We start in one place and look into the mists to see the shadows of where we should be.

I always knew that the Hedge Tarote was meant to be something more than a 'trick' - that it was meant to be a book to create authentic magic. I just did not know the details of this. I had always intended to add two more phases to the existing premise of visualisation; that of a reading system and a tool for authentic magic.

Then my attention turned to the Alchemical Artifactum. (for those of you who were not around then - The AA was a project I work on with Paul Prater - its original premise was simple - create an alternative set of ESP cards, one with a more mystical premise). When I started work again on this, a whole new depth revealed itself; one that seemed to fuse magical performance with more authentic techniques of visualisation, reading, and authentic magical experience. This was by far the most ambitious and difficult work I have been engaged in. It also seemed to be the new direction for the Hedge Tarote, and I saw it as and evolution and replacement of that piece.

So after a couple of years intensive study, drawing and writing - the Artifactum was produced. At the moment, only a very few people have access to this. However, with the help of Vic from Gemini, this will see the light of day as Alchemy Moons next major release, sometime in Q3.

Many have asked me to make just one more Hedge Tarote for them, and I promised that I would (even though I assumed it to now be surpassed). As I revisited the HT, it too started to reveal greater depths. So, at the moment, I am totally redesigning and rewriting the HT. I am more than a little excited about what has been revealed so far. I have put in around a years work on this project, so by my track record, I guess I am half way there.

....that is not all. The Artifactum has nothing of the original AA in it. People have been asking for the original AA and this too has lead to some personal revelations for a sister project, a sort of 'Major Arcana' for the Artifactum. I have the whole of this in my head, but the designing of these is going to be a monumental task.

In sort - I have may work cut out.

A major factor in going with Gemini (other than the obvious logic of it) is that I now have time to devote to these projects.

So, you *will* be able to obtain the Artifactum some time this year.
Following this, the redesigned Hedge Tarote will be available after this - it will be a beast to make, so numbers will have to be limited on this (obviously, I will be prioritising people already on my waiting list).
The third Phase will be the Artifactum Triumphs (or whatever it will be called eventually).

All of these will be available through Gemini.

Finally, it is not my intention to write long posts like this seemingly promoting my own work, as I do not think this is the best use of this forum.
So, if it seems like a good idea and worth my time, I may well crank up my blog again (if only I can find where I put it!) this would be a good place for me to put up some progress reports on where I am, as well as delve into a few rabbit holes of my own. Let me know if this would be a good idea and something that would be of use. If there is a demand, I will make it happen.

If you have any other questions (such as 'Where the hell is my Hedge Tarote?') Fire away (or drop me an email).

...See you all in the alternate reality!

Where others might take something, produce it as a "trick", and call it done, Chris will distill it to its pure soul. The new Artefactum is no exception to this. Comparing it to the original or discussing it in those terms seems almost improper as it's so far beyond, so wholly apart. There were ethereal whispers of of the hidden potential in the Alchemical Artefactum. I can say without hyperbole that the new Artefactum brings all that potential to light and more. Will one still be able to do the original Zener-style effects with them? I suppose so, in a manner. But that would akin to using the Hope Diamond as a paper weight.

The new Artefactum has some tenebrous history, as well. I've seen glimpses of the antiquated, secretive systems it grew from. Chris has taken those dark roots and cultivated the extraordinary.

Very excited at the upcoming release of this!

I can attest that Pasteboard Alchemist is using no hyperbole when he is describing the new Artefactum. As one of the folks Chris has allowed to proof his manuscript (which he has distilled down to over 200 pages), I can say that we all are in for a real treat. A real treat that is real-world ready.

Those of you who visited the Alchemy Moon table at ECSS3 had a chance to see a prototype set of the Artifactum cards - the artwork you saw is the finished product, though the cards themselves were an early testing set that Chris allowed me to make up for the show. This is going to be a beautiful set though, as those who saw them can testify. David is correct that the manual is quite extensive, yet gives you a nice routine to get you off the ground quickly, and then goes into the deeper thinking, psychology, and mechanics that you have come to expect. You are going to love this one.

I can't imagine why you'd feel sad. I have both the original AA and the HT and like them very much. The HT... it's a staple that I use constantly. The original buzz I had when I'd first received it is still there, as it's still one of my go-to when people ask for readings. Would be like feeling sad that you enjoyed a top of the line plasma TV for years because, eventually, a thinner LED TV came out.
