Greetings All!
My stage name is Malaki Dracwin, and my primary venue is performing at Medieval & Renaissance reenactment fairs and events. I have been practicing magic for 40 years now, my first public show being at the third annual Medieval Fair in Norman, OK.. Magic and the Middle Ages - two things just seemed to belong together. I have been a 13th century wizard ever since, performing in and for for the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). My main forms of magic are close up, slight of hand and what used to be referred to as Parlor Magic. Having done the research to historically prove that magic was, in fact, performed in the Middle Ages, I had amassed a great deal of historical information. After compiling this info for 10 years (and learning to type and operate a computer), I published my first book, "Timeline of Magic" in 2002. My second book, "Theatrical Magic" was published in 2006, sharing what I had learned while working backstage at the Oklahoma Theater Center. I am an IBM member. In 1996 I put forth the idea of publishing a Grimoire for Ring #46. For this project, anyone in the club may contribute an article to the Grimoire. Once per year, I compile, edit and publish the Grimoire, which is free to contributing members, $5 for non-contributing members. All proceeds go to benefit the Oklahoma City Magic Club. I just sent issue #21 to print last month. This provides an opportunity for the club members to contribute to the club (becoming a published author along the way), and to share with the other club members. It is a big job, but I recommend such a project in all magic clubs! The Wizard's Workshoppe is where I create magical apparatus. Although I love every aspect of woodworking, my favorite tool in the shop is my lathe, upon which I make custom wands of hardwood. I have recently built a Rose Engine Lathe for doing Ornamental Turning (OT) ala Holtzapffel. I truly look forward to reading what has been offered on this list. What I have seen so far has genuinely impressed me! In Magical Service, Malaki Dracwin (aka David Swanson) |

Welcome Malaki,
I used to work as a Wizard's Apprentice character while I was an Apprentice Wizard. We were not historically accurate (so we did not really do the Ren. Faire circuit) but we had a great time. I copied and pasted Malaki Dracwin in google and saw your Chinese repeating Crossbow. Beautiful! -Mary Mowder |

Good morrow, Malaki! Well met!
I got started doing magic as a jester in California ren faires. Now I mostly perform in Gold Rush Old Sacramento. (As a street entertainer not jester.) I am also a member of IBM (Ring 192). I look forward to seeing you in Periods and Styles of Magic. Gomerel |
