Andy Riley (who is a writer on VEEP among other shows) has a list of terminology comedy writers use.
http://misterandyriley.com/2017/03/31/ho......dated-2/ Riley's list is mostly UK-focused. Some years ago, the writer John Rogers put together a similar list of American comedy terms: http://kfmonkey.blogspot.co.uk/2005/04/w......ion.html Both lists are focused on TV writing, which of course has its own needs separate from comedy magic. But I think a lot of the ideas would be useful for magicians-- Bananas on Bananas and North By Northwest gags, to name two. So I think both lists can be useful jumping off points for comedy magic, and I thought they were worth sharing. |

This is great. I love this. Thanks for sharing.
They're great lists for spotting errors in your comedy writing too. |
