Over the past couple years I've aquired enough coins that I really shouldn't be throwing them in a drawer. I know some of you have extensive gaff coin collections.
What do you store your gaff coins in at home? What do you carry them in when you go out to perform? |

Answer to both questions: Assorted coin purses/holders/wallets.
A partial list: Classic external clasp coin purses Onasaka style internal clasp coin purses JOL "Coin Tidys" Re-purposed memory card holders Tony Miller Mobius wallets Tony Miller "Real Man's Coin Purse" Jeff Copeland's "The Traveler" |

Check out Atelier Pall. Their coin purse keyfob is like the Mobius wallet (less any gimmick). They will dye their products to order too not just the brown and black displayed. So, my coin keyfob is their "Jeans" dye which is a nice blue color. You can find the key fob on this page: http://atelierpall.com/5-leather-accessories
You could easily modify it to have a Mobius style gimmick. |

Nice little coin purse, but I don't see anything other than the triangular shape in common with a Mobius.

I sometimes use the nice plastic dividers that Tango includes. I separate all my sets in smaller purses and stuff the whole lot into a Crown Royal Bag (or two). I would be careful of one thing though. I bought an inexpensive real leather coin holder that unfolds and has 8 different coin slots (no fabric lining). I put several polished up Walkers in it and a week or two later they were horribly discolored. I was able to shine them back up though.

Agreed. The neat thing about the Mobius was that it has two snaps and unfolds completely - this one looks like it does not.
That aside, there are lots of things you can use. There are multi-pocketed coin holders like this one: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/5221 I know Kainoa has some kind of multi-pocketed management system, and MB has a divider that makes multiple sections - both of which can go in a pants pocket. For home/easy selection you could also use one of those plastic containers for screws/nuts/bolts to keep all of your various bits in. I think Jeff Copeland demonstrated one in one of his videos I saw. |

Poof: I'm curious which silicone case you use. I had a laugh imagining one of these, though I'm sure it's not.

Mine came with a keyring and a phone jack strap (I removed both though). My son lives in Japan and found them pretty cheap over there so he sent me a few in different colors. I use the colors to identify which gaff set is in each.

Really helpful suggestions, thanks. Keep them coming.
Do any of you actually use the trick functionality of some of these wallets such as the Traveller and Mobius? |

My Traveler has Walkers, a shell and a 1/10th oz silver walker round (dime size) for the "Macro-Micro" routine. I keep a CSB set in my small Mobius and a Morgan Dollar Hopping Half set in my large Mobius. You might as well take advantage and store a set you would use it with. When I go out, I can grab a couple different purses to stuff in a pocket and know exactly what I have by what purse it is. I also have a "PMS" from Kainoa Harbottle http://www.magicofkainoa.com/shop/pocket-management-system that is ready to go at all times with a nice little mix of misc magic in it. (I was one of the lucky few who got these when they first came out and were only for e-mail subs at an incredible pre-sale price).

I don't regularly, but have in the past.
It's mostly about what fits your style/usage best. My understanding is that Jeff does - that's why he built it in! |

I recently got a taxidermy toad coin purse from eBay and it is hopping hot!!! I will try to upload some pictures later. |

Plastic bags from the office supply store or grocery store. Put the coins, instructions and any additional items for the trick. Label the bag, and place in a "Storage" plastic container with other tricks. When removed to use, place the empty bag in an "In Use" container. Replace in bag and correct container when finished with it.
I place all my coin magic in a larger plastic bag. So I have card tricks and coin tricks in separate large bags all in one large plastic foot locker. Also don't forget to include a reference to any books and DVDs, for a particular trick. So everything is in one place and easy to recognize and find. After 60 years of trying many systems, I find this one the best, so I don't see a coin laying around in a drawer and then wondering what it goes to or what it's use it. |

....and I thought *I* was "anal" about the organization of my stuff!
(and I mean that only in the best possible way, I see/understand the value in that process, I just don't have the patience to go to that length) Quote:

I suggest a JOL purse for carrying and damp-proof case for storage.

I have had a few different kinds of coin holders or bags over the years, some leather pocketbook like carriers, some zippered media holders, and a couple of makeshift thingys, along with simple clear small plastic coin bags for home storage. I actually have a lot of old coin tricks/trick coins I've kept in little plastic bags for years now. They're cheap and see-thru for quick recognition.
[It's late and I feel that I'm about to be all over the place here, but I'll keep going a ways...] But most times for me, it sorta depends on where I'm going... When I'm going off to stay someplace, I carry several coins in a black purse I got from my local dollar store...seems to work pretty well. But when I'm going out and might do some magic, I actually don't carry the coins in anything, I just have them in my pockets, so that I can more immediately get to them. I typically only carry a few coins, and I can usually do 3-5 nice tricks with just those coins. So, in my right pocket I usually have a brass Chinese coin and an old Walking Liberty half dollar to do my "Double Trouble" set and or my "MB Transpo" or maybe "ReVisiTed." In my left pocket I may have either 3 Kennedy half dollars or a set of Morgan Dollars to do either my "KrazyKoinZ" or "FlySki." With just these few coins, I can do all sorts of things, and most times I definitely have all I need via my "Less is More" way of doing things nowadays. I guess the need for some sort of carrying case got caught up in all that too -- Less is More...to the extent that I actually at best may only have part of a bag in just carrying a purse frame, where I may magically take my coins from sometimes.

Resurrected an old thread to ask the question again: if you’ve amassed a large quantity of coins and coin gaffs, how do you store them and keep the sets labelled when not in use.?
