I am not sure what to think about this new release from Docc. The ad states:

SHAME is a gimmick applied to any deck of cards.
It performs three different basic functions:

•Instantly reveals any chosen cards.
•Secretly reveals thought of cards.
•Forces a mental selection on a subject - with 100% accuracy!

No Sleight of hand! EZ to Do.

Now, recently Docc's releases have been hit or miss IMO. Shame does look intriguing and sounds great. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Or will this be a SHAME on you Docc release?

You never can tell. Could be a winner or a loser. Unfortunately with the way everyone hypes up a new effect months before it is ready to be released, I doubt we will see this in the hands of people to offer a review for several more months.

And I could be wrong!

Dual Control - Shuffled deck is cut into two equal piles - 2 spectators pull a card from each half, remember it and replace in the other half - Halves are placed in mentalist’s left and right pockets - mentalist brings 1 card out in each hand - The chosen cards are named - Mentalist has the correct cards! - Deck may be examined.

Is it DIY gimmick project?

How about a review? Why won't you use it? It isn't cheap.

Is the reason you will never use it because you already have other techniques to accomplish the same thing that you prefer, or is it because it is impractical?

It's just not something for me. It's an additional deck of cards. Yup DIY, all electronic delivery.

I think I will wait for a few more reviews at this price (for a download)

Okay I realize my short reply wasn't fair to the product, and I'll give reviewing it a shot.


The Ad copy is accurate/accurate enough. It doesn't mention that the gimmick is an entire deck with some DIY.

This deck can be displayed at any time to be a normal ungimmicked deck and doesn't really matter how you want to display it, maybe as a fan, a riffle, or even one card at a time. You can indeed push a card from it directly into someone's mind. The included effects are great, and my favorites are Prophecy, Hoy to Hoy, and Mental Epic. The thinking behind all the effects Docc presented is really clever, and those are the standouts that will get you thinking of more ways to use the deck.

Sadly, it doesn't fit in with anything I do right now. That could very well change, and using this principle is very powerful. But for right now, I don't use playing cards. Obviously, I knew going in that it was card effects, but I bought it wondering if I could use the principle for other things. It does have some potential in that direction.

The lecture itself was fantastic, lots of history and wisdom scattered throughout it. The instruction is very good, and easy to follow.

Bottom line- if you want to appear to push a card into someone mind, or pluck one out -- this is very smooth, requires no slight of hand, and is very easy to do. (That doesn't mean that you will not have to practice.)

I give it an 8/10 for clever thinking and ease of use.

How long and difficult to make a gimmick? Any special material?

Can it be stack of business card instead of playing cards?

The gimmick is super easy to apply, you need a couple very easy to find supplies. I didn't make one but I suspect a it would take a little over 30 minutes to complete.

Im going to flat out say no to business cards, but I can see how another person may tell you that with some reworking of your card design it would be possible. But overall, it's not for that.
