Hello all!
Im looking for information on 5/6 bill repeat effects. Ive looked into Fred Kaps version, and a Café search is leading me more in the direction of card repeats, perhaps independent creations are titled differently?

What are your favorite bill repeats? Ideally I'm looking to continuously throw bills away and still have 5/6. Gimmicked or not gimmicked what are your favorites?

Fred Kaps has an effect called Kaps' Currency which is an effect where the money is given to the spectators to hold and count (into the magi's hands). The premise is that the magician wants to do a trick that requires exactly eleven bills. The spectator counts eleven bills into the magi's hand, but somehow he didn't quite end up eleven, so the spectator gives him more money, but the magi never quite gets eleven, even though all of the bills are given to the spectator to count into the magi's hand.

Bargatze has a wonderful presentation of this effect, you could find this on youtube under the name The World Famous Eleven Dollar Bill Trick.

The very first time I performed this, it was for 3 "friends" - two handled the money, the 3'rd just watched. The two "helpers" got so frustrated that they did every thing they could to figure it out, wrenching the money, even putting their face right up to the bills (even over my shoulder) as I recounted them. The third, had a very entertaining presentation. I was sweating bullets.

If you are looking for a more conventional 6 bill repeat, Check out Bill Abbott's Five Card Opener. The effect is standard bill repeat effect, but the presentation is very good for getting the audience warmed up and responding.

Thanks John! I am indeed looking for a traditional 6 bill repeat, with bills specifically, however I'm having trouble finding different sources/versions of this. Be it book, dvd, gimmicked, slight of hand, id like to research this in depth. Thank you for the information!

To be clear, Abbott's Five Card Opener can be done with bills.

There is a very basic version even in Mark Wilson book on magic and as stated most card versions can easily be used with bills as well. That said the best 5/6 repeat bill routine that I have come across is by Meir Yedid on his dvd and it might be also in his book. It uses 5 bills and it builds instead of just repeating itself and it has clear ending that is often lacking with six card repeat routines.

Kaps bill couunting trick is more along the lines on Edward Victors 11 cards trick that was popularized by Derek Dingle. Best versions I have seen are by John Carney (unpublished?) and Mike Caveney (his big book).

If you do the repeat bills, do it with real money. Make sure the count of the bills looks exactly the same throughout. Kaps Currency is a fabulous effect I have used many times.

I contacted this person by PM, as D. Robbins is sold out of the supply of 6 Bill Repeat. I also purchased all the stock at the local magic shop, a dozen, several years ago.

I offered to sell Illusionist 13 one, and include the original instruction's with patter from the Tom Boyer original version sold in the 1960's, but he never read the PM or even returned to this forum. So I guess he has moved on to something else.

Lets face it, he has been a member of the Café for 15 years, and only has 74 posts. Magic is not his main interest.
