Not sure if this has been done, but it could be fun.
I'll start with an easy one:

"Tell me how it is that you can sleep
In the night without thinkin' you lost
Everything that was good in your life
To the toss of the dice"
You don't drown by falling in the water;

you drown by staying there.

Aerosmith... can't think of the title!

Ok... here's one:

I am just a worthless liar.
I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you.
Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you.
I will chew it up and leave,
I will work to elevate you
just enough to bring you down.

Yes, What It Takes is the Aerosmith song.

Firedice,
Is that a Tool song?
You don't drown by falling in the water;

you drown by staying there.

Good choice Dice.

Here's One.

The photograph on the dashboard...
taken years ago.
Turn around backwards so the windshield shows...every streetlight...reveals a picture...and a verse....still it's so much clearer....I forgot my shirt at...the water's edge...the moon is low tonight....

Man...all from memory.

Anyone?

Firedice is right!! Nightswimming is the song.

Hope you don't mind me jumping ahead of ya but I have tons of these.

So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
But that's me stumbling away
slowly learning that life is o.k.
Say after me
it's no better to be safe than sorry.

Take On Me, Aha

Most of my favourites are possibly too obscure, so here's an easy one;

I went to church incognito
When Everybody rose
The Reverend Smithy recognised me
And punched me in the nose

OK, a magic related clue; the performer in question has employed Franz Harary as a consultant.

Doesn't narrow it down on it's own, but may help.

OK, how about this...

"Hello there, the angel from my nightmare
the shadow in the background of the morgue"

That should be fairly easy, it's current, but not overplayed yet.

Is that Moody Blues? I could be way off.

Here's one;

If you could see the you
That I see
When I see you seeing me
You'd see yourself so differently
Believe me

Yes Firedice it is the Moody Blues. It is some of the spoken part at the end of the song Dear Diary.

Henry Rollins I believe. Here's one from me:

How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again,
It's always been the same, same old story,
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen,
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.

Father and Son - Cat Stevens

Heres one:

Today loves smile on me,
It took away my pain, said please
All that you ride is free,
You gotta let it be,
Oh ya.
